User talk:Pahari Sahib~simplewiki
Welcome![change source]
Hello, Pahari Sahib, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.
Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.
If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.
If you would like to test Wikipedia, please use the sandbox. Please do not test Wikipedia by editing its articles.
Good luck and happy editing! --Isis♠(talk) 13:33, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Pages[change source]
All of the articles that you have created for this site are good so far, but I am sure that you have noticed that I have been adding interwiki links to quite a few of the pages that you have been created. I am glad to see that you have started adding them to every page that you have created on this site now. I would like to ask if you would continue doing this for every page that you create from now on. It has taken me a lot of time to add the interwiki links that I have to your pages, but I am happy to do so. If you forget in the future, I am completely fine with it as I am completely willing to add them to any page that you forget to add them to. Razorflame 19:30, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey,[change source]
Since you're creating so many pages, can you make sure you add the English Wikipedia Interwiki link? Bots can add the rest. Thanks -- American Eagle (talk) 22:52, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- I was planning on going back over my edits and adding any iws, what do you mean though about bots doing the rest? Pahari Sahib (talk) 22:53, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- We have Bots active that any page they go over, that has an Interwiki link, it will add all the other languages. That makes things very easy if one is added. Cheers -- American Eagle (talk) 23:01, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oh I see :-), I find it easier to create a bunch of articles and then add the interwiki, to avoid doing this - as I did here - also means I can check anything else I missed. Pahari Sahib (talk) 23:36, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for deleting your user page[change source]
Hello Pahari Sahib; it is good to see you created an account. I am sorry for deleting your user page earlier; a blank user page is usually taken as requesting deletion (which I then did). In any case, it has been restored. --Eptalon (talk) 06:52, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- That's okay :-) Pahari Sahib (talk) 16:38, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Tehsils of Pakistan[change source]
I don't know if you are have seen, but we currently have 181 pages in Tehsils of Pakistan. I have started to create sub-categories for the provinces, see Category:Tehsils of Pakistan. When I get the time, I will probaby use a bot (or a script) to re-classify all the Tehsils into their respective province (based on what EnWP says where they are). Do you think it is ok if we classify by province, or should we do it by district? - I do not know Pakistan at all; what I simply want to avoid is that we have a category where there are many pages (which can easily be grouped differently, so there are fewer pages). As I said, I am open to discussion. In anay case, sorry again, and I hope you enjoy editing here. --Eptalon (talk) 06:52, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think they should be classified by provinces rather than district :-) If you classify by district then you will have a lot of sub cats with very few pages in. Pahari Sahib (talk) 16:35, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Pakistan-administered Kashmir?[change source]
Hello, I have written a stub about Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which in my book is Azad-Kashmir, and Northern Areas; in EnWP, this simply links to Azad-Kashmir, so I am not sure. Could you have a quick look, please? --Eptalon (talk) 20:17, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- You are right, I have made some changes (hopefully for the better), feel free to let me know if not. Pahari Sahib 20:42, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have no idea about Pakistan; let alone Kashmir. I trust you as the expert. :) --Eptalon (talk) 20:57, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Okay thanks :-) Pahari Sahib 21:02, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Watch out when making longer new pages[change source]
You just copied Syrian American from the English Wikipedia. They may have categories and templates that aren't in this Wikipedia and their language is usually too complex. You could fix it up by removing the categories which are red and simplify the language a bit, or else it might get deleted. Remember that next time you want to make a longer articles. - Æåm Fætsøn /ˈaɪæm ˈfætsən/ 07:24, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, but a couple of things though
- my version is shorter and simpler (may be not enough) than the main wiki, but is not a blanket copy-paste
- I removed the templates not used here, by the way the templates link you cited doesn't work
- As for cats, I try and create them as seems fit, after all the site does advise "Don't be afraid to start and improve articles! If your changes are not perfect, they can always be fixed by other editors." I created the cat Category:Arab Americans it has been modified subsequently. Pahari Sahib 00:10, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Moves[change source]
You just moved a few articles because they were the towns not the tehsil's. Can you also change the cat? Thanks. Synergy 21:25, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Murree rebellion 1857[change source]
Hello, the sources to the above article arent very good or reliable and a considerable amount of self-promotive and unverified info was also added to the above, which I have now removed. Please try to use only reliable Secondary Sources, especially proper peer-reviewed journal articles and newer history books, as per Wiki standards. Depending on a single or maybe 2 sources, one an old British gazeteer or report and another a rather poor article, isnt very reliable am afraid. In recent times, especially between the late 1990s and 2003, I know that there are at least 2-3 books by proper scholars/researchers and published by reputable presses, which also mention the Murree rebellion/mutiny in more objective and balanced terms that the article here. I think that this would definitely benefit from a reading/study of these. I would for starters recommend (a) H Lee Brothers in the Raj:The Lives of John and Henry Lawrence (KarachI:OUP, 2002) (b) C Allen, Soldier-sahibs (London: J Murray 2000) (c) D Peers, Orientalism, Militarism and Romanticism: Rewriting the History of the British Conquest of India, Punjab Journal, 1998 and (d)AJ Major, The Punjabi Chieftains and the Transition from Sikh to British Rule, 1846 to 1858, in DA Low, The Political Inheritance of Pakistan, London:Macmillan, 1991. Many of the unqualified and rather simplistic statements herein would certainly have to be drastically revised/reviewed in the light of mush new evidence and documentation and their analysis as given in these fine works--for example, the factual extent role and place of Sherbaz Khan, Dhund Abbasi, the background of Sikh rule and the 2 Anglo-Sikh wars leading to the British HEIC annexation of March 1849 and so on. I hope you will please seriously consider making a proper and very thorough revision of this please and shall take my constructive criticism in the right vein. Thanks, regardsHamneto (talk) 05:42, 8 November 2012 (UTC)Hamneto

An editor has requested deletion of Category:Armies by country, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2013/Category:Armies by country and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Your account will be renamed[change source]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Pahari Sahib. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Pahari Sahib~simplewiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
