Hey PM :)[change source]

Hello MDOA! That stands for My Dear Old Adopter. :P I love the work you do here. I don't know what simple wikipedia would do without you! I just wanted to apologize for being so inactive lately... Sorry! 3: I'll try my best to edit more often now. :) Let me know if there's any article you want me to work on for you. ingly, Bella tête-à-tête 06:57, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

:) Nice to see you editing here again. I've been inactive myself until last month so you don't need to apologize for being inactive. :P Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 14:41, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IEP 2.0 proposal[change source]

I regret that it was necessary to join you and others in disagreement with the IEP 2.0 proposal.

In my opinion, a better start-up plan was used in an SEWP pilot program in Japan. I mentioned it here, but two sentences may have been overlooked in the wall of words:

"... a very different kind of strategy has marked the development of a pilot SEWP program at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) here and here. Strategic planning and context-building here and here were quite distinct from the IEP 2.0 proposal."

I would have thought we want to find ways to build on what works well. --Horeki (talk) 15:40, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Dre new revision[change source]

Hello, I have recently updated the Dr. Dre article from a stub to a full article [1], but GoblinBot keeps reverting it back to one sentence. Can anything be done to stop this? I have very much dummed the article down and made it easy to read and informative at the same time so I see no reason why this change should be undone? Thanks K. Djjazzyb (talk) 06:36, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the edit of the bot, so now is your text in the article. -- Tegel (talk) 09:27, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What is going on here?[change source]

[1] What happened to Simple where this is seen as okay? No notifying, no attempting to discuss, and jumping right into labeling people and seeking bans. It is really poisonous and it seems really bad that such thing now appears the norm. This is really, really disturbing to me. Then to have legitimate concerns dismissed over some strange claim about us being a "meritocracy" as if some how people are wrong for not having whatever arbitrary whatever someone else does is even more concerning. Category:Azerbaijani political parties[change source]

Hi

Why was the "Category:Azerbaijani political parties" deleted? The category was not originally empty, it had two articles corresponding to that category. Is there a specific number of corresponding articles necessary for a category, in order for it to stay? If yes, there are many other existing categories which have only one or two corresponding articles. For instance Category:Swedish political parties has two articles and Category:Ukrainian political parties has only one article. If there is a written rule in Simple English Wikipedia which states that a minimum number of articles are necessary, for a category to stay, this needs to be indicated with an internal link. If there is not, then it sounds like a double standard.

I was wondering does this article Spaghetti Squash fall under any of the WP:QD guidelines. I am pretty sure it does, and if it does what guideline or rational would it fall under? --Clarkcj12 (talk) 18:22, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Why do you think so? There is such a thing as spaghetti squash. It's a squash with flesh that comes apart in strings that look like spaghetti. I've added a picture. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:02, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nonagenarians[change source]

I see you're deleting these categories. Can we also delete the octogenarian and septuagenarian cats, or should I RFD them separately? --Auntof6 (talk) 10:43, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since Category:People by age is being nominated, I think it's a good idea to delete the octogenarian and septuagenarian cats if that is deleted. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 14:18, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Questions about removing highly trusted user from "Vandalism in progress"[change source]

Hello Pmlideditor,

I've seen that you have removed my report of vandalisation because Vituzzu is a "highly trusted user".

My question is: have you seen the link I've added to the report? It is an official US Gov document, demonstrating that the use of past tense for the Free Territory of Trieste is incorrect (illegal). Dorje77 (talk) 13:35, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I will reply to this question if you reply to mine: have you seen that this is the Simple English Wikipedia and not the English Wikipedia? Vandalism/disruptive editing etc. by a user at the English Wikipedia is of no concern to us anyway. I should note that Vituzzu is a highly trusted user while your edits crosswiki makes it seem that you are a single purpose account, which I certainly hope you are not. Either way, since we don't have an article about the Free Territory of Trieste, this matter doesn't concern this wiki at all. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 17:44, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry... My account is not a "single purpose account", but I'm very newbie - I didn't see thet this is the Simple English Wikipedia. :( My fault, I'll have a look at the right page. :)Dorje77 (talk) 06:20, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you updated this template earlier this month. Would you mind also updating the doc page? In particular, I see that the trans_title parameter isn't shown here, although it does work. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 09:29, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An important message about renaming users[change source]

Dear Pmlineditor,

I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.

As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.

Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.

The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.

Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.

In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.

Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the SUL finalisation, read over the Help:Unified login page on Meta and leave a note on the talk page there, or on the talk page for global renamers. You can also contact me on my talk page on meta if you would like. I'm working as a bridge between Wikimedia Foundation Engineering and Product Development, Wikimedia Stewards, and you to assure that SUL finalisation goes as smoothly as possible; this is a community-driven process and I encourage you to work with the Stewards for our communities.

Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) talk 18:24, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Satdeep gill:, Hi. Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia, and thanks for your contributions. Apologies if you felt it was demotivating; that was not my intention at all. I've restored the pages to your userspace. Please note that we have different policies from the English Wikipedia so such lists may not be very useful without introductory leads to our readers. Regards, Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 15:14, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Pm, have a look at this User:Satdeep gill/List of bridges in Spain and tell me what else should I do. I have added the attribution as well. Moreover the page in English was also created by me. --Satdeep gill (talk) 16:40, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, if I'm not incorrect, your list on enwiki was copied from the eswiki page, so that's where the attribution should go to. The page itself is okay, but since almost everything there is a redlink and therefore, slightly complex for our readers, you might need to cut it a bit, but that's a matter for later. If you are done, I can move it to the mainspace. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 16:46, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it is from Spanish Wiki. I will attribute that and create the page myself thanks. --Satdeep gill (talk) 16:58, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, i guess you should move it. You know this better. --Satdeep gill (talk) 17:04, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

“Earth”[change source]

Hi, PM, Back in 2012 I thought I would help things along by removing the article “the” from before “Earth” in a number of pages in Wikipedia. I was rebuffed. But in once again looking into the etymology of “Earth”, I thought I remembered that the main Wikipedia page on our planet was titled “The Earth”. The title was unable to be edited, as I recall it. Now, though, looking at the history of the page, there’s nothing that suggests that I’m remembering that correctly. However, in looking at the creation of the “The Earth” redirect page, which it seems you created in 2011, I’m wondering if indeed, this allowed for the “Earth” page, with the revision history not including the title change. Or, it might be that I’m remembering that all wrong. Thanks.
