Hey

Nice to see you back, for however long... The Rambling Man (talk) 20:29, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :) I'm probably going to hang out here for a while each day now :) I'm done being on Yahoo! Answers for a while now, and now I just need to be updated on any major changes. I've already noticed that Garden, Yotcmdr, and Barras! :D have all passed RfAs :) Only person missing now is me ;) Razorflame 20:31, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have indeed :D  GARDEN  20:32, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, check out Simple talk archives for important stuff like proposals on who we're basing this Wikipedia on, i.e. children, or non-English speakers... We had a minor discussion over revamping DYK which didn't get too far, PGA and PVGA are still a bit silly but working okay to the extent we have a few proposals right now. WP:PAD has been busier than usual, my fault, as I've reviewed a few of the older articles. As you already know, Mr Kohs is around here from time to time, but whatever. Otherwise, same old same old. Hope you're well. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:37, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Meh, me and him have reached a truce, so me and him should not have any future problems. He is a banned user on the English Wikipedia, so you should probably take note of that in the future if he continues to cause disruption here. Razorflame 20:39, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits

With all due respect, could you please think your edits through more carefully? This create unnecessary whitespace, and I'm not entirely sure what the point of it was. Thanks, –Juliancolton | Talk 15:30, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think through every single one of my edits before I make them. I really did not see what the problem was with my edit, but I've made a compromise between our edits, so I do believe that it should still accomplish what I set out to do. Thanks for the input, Razorflame 15:32, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What's the point of adding a space? –Juliancolton | Talk 15:32, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Read what I wrote on your talk page. If you would prefer a bot to make such edits as those, then I am fine with running Darkicebot to make cosmetic changes such as that. It does nothing more that help out people who want to know what the name of a section is more easily in the editing screen. Other than that, it provides nothing additional to the article. Razorflame 15:35, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, a bot that adds a superfluous space would be equally as useless. –Juliancolton | Talk 15:36, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to drop this for now. I'll visit back upon it later if I deem it necessary. Razorflame 15:37, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have just written the article, it is completely sourced and all. There is one problem, and that is that it is probably not "simple enough". Could you simple it down for me (without making it much shorter? I am very bad at English, most of it comes from the English wikipedia and is translated from the Portugese wiki. -'J. B. A. Evháh'- (talk) 06:48, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sure, I'll take a look through it :). Cheers, Razorflame 06:48, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you are already done! You're very quick! You really helped me out here!
And I have a question for you: could this article be featured on the main page as "DYK"? I tried it before, but they said it could not be DYK unless I provided sources. Now it has sources, and it is more "simple" can it be DYK? -'J. B. A. Evháh'- (talk) 07:07, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it probably could go through the DYK process now. You never know if it will pass unless you try :) Feel free to add it. I won't review it personally because I've edited it, but I'll allow someone else to review it for you :D Cheers, Razorflame 07:08, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks man! I already put it on: it is on the nominations page, you could take a look! They failed it because I gave no sources and it was not simple. No that has been fixed by you, it would pass, right? I do not know when the next mainpage update of DYK's is, do you? -'J. B. A. Evháh'- (talk) 07:12, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, I do not, unfortunately. They'll update it soon, though :) Good luck, Razorflame 07:25, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well thanks! I added Jelckama to the "next update" now... If they fail it anyway, then perhaps next time, right? If I write new article, is it okay if I contact you when I believe it has to much mistakes (spelling, grammar, etc. )-'J. B. A. Evháh'- (talk) 07:28, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it is alright :) I might not get to it immediately like I did tonight, but in most cases, I'll get around to it within a few hours to a day or so. Cheers, Razorflame 07:31, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"To night"? I am not getting you from sleeping am I? I am free from work now: I live in another time zone, so... it is in the morning here, 9.34! :) -'J. B. A. Evháh'- (talk) 07:33, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, I was up because I chose to be up :) Didn't go to bed until 2:43AM last night. No biggie, Razorflame 18:27, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

re: welcome

Thanks for your welcome. Although, I would love to expand articles, I currently help fight vandalism at en.wikipedia and here. I monitor recent changes on both projects at the same time. Because there is a lot more vandalism at en., I usually spend more of my time there. I help here as needed, but because simple isn't a very large project, I'm not needed here much, and en. needs me more. Griffinofwales (talk) 18:03, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. Feel free to edit where you feel most comfortable. Cheers, Razorflame 18:27, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request for bot correction

Hello, Razorflame! It's been a long time since I came here to ask you for help! But today I came over again. Hope you don't mind. Here is what's brought me here:

Initialy I was just translating the words "TV series" to Swahili "Mfululizo wa TV". But one of the linguistic told me that is not correct! The worst of all, I wrote it in a million articles, so, how can I change it? For me, it will take much longer and I don't even think if I am capable of doing that! In case of that, I'd rather ask for your help to create some bot which is going to change the words "Mfululizo" to "Riwaya". That is correct one. Do you think you can do that for me?--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 14:51, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So far, nothing has been replied since then. Ok. Thanks anyway!!!--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 06:32, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I am not very active on here anymore. If you want to change one word to another on lots of articles, use AutoWikiBrowser if it is supports on the Wikipedia that you wish to make the changes on. Cheers, Razorflame 20:26, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The question is not the bot type, no. Is to create the bot system! Anyway, thanks for your time!! Cheers...--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 13:50, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but I do not write the bots that I use. I merely do just what they are created for, using them. I am not a programmer or coder, so I don't know how to write a bot, unfortunately. Sorry, Razorflame 15:42, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ahaa. I didn't know if you're not the creator. So, could you please provide the URL for me? I meant the place where you use to take the bots and use them, please!!!!!--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 14:20, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Go to meta and look up Using the pywikipedia bot for information on that. Cheers, Razorflame 00:41, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When you warn people...

...would you mind using the parameter on the templates to say what article you are referring to when templating users with many edits? For example, when you gave User:82.132.136.142 a {{uw-test3}} warning - a sampling of his edits revealed several helpful edits, not the harmful one you are referring to - so it seems unclear to me (and presumably to him) which edit you are referring to. Using the parameter would help avoid confusion. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 02:03, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes, the parameter is not helpful, such as in this case, because I was warning him for many edits which were POV pushing edits that were made over the past hour, to multiple pages, so the parameter would be useless in this instance. Otherwise, I do use the parameter :). Cheers, Razorflame 02:25, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 20:37, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First off, make sure that you sign your notes that you leave on other peoples' talk pages with four tildes ~~~~ so that people know who the message is from. Secondly, please make sure that you write more beef in your messages so that I know exactly what you want. Darkicebot

Please stop adding interwikis to nn:Halten and no:Halten (which is about an island in Norway), it ha nothing to do with simple:Halten (municipality in Switzerland). This is my second time giving you this message. Please get a grip over your bot this time. Banangraut (talk) 18:38, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coupled with a similar note on en.wiki, I suggest that you check the code on your bot or stop it altogether as it seems to be causing more trouble than it's worth right now. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:55, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've decided to run it only on categories from now on because of problems like this. I know for a fact that it works when adding categories and I know it works correctly. I'll keep to that from now on. Cheers, Razorflame 21:06, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's not the code causing most of these mishaps, its that you seem to not understand some of the switching. You shouldn't be using -autonomous and any other switch at the same time or things like this happen. ie don't use -hint when you use -autonomous. -DJSasso (talk) 01:38, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thanks for the information. I know that you should not use -force with -autonomous, but I never knew that you can't use -hint with -autonomous. I always thought that in order to add interwikis, you had to use -autonomous with -hint to make sure that it has all of the pages with the same name that exist to make sure it adds them. I never knew that it causes such problems. I'll make sure to not use that in the future. Thanks, Razorflame 00:58, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re QD's

There was a discussion on Simpletalk a couple of months ago (but I don't remember when exactly) that decided that all towns were notable. The idea though was to discourage mass creation of one sentence stubs. Also there has been discussion about these pages of football statistics but I don't know if consensus was reached. Re the Wales National Football team - surely the national team must be notable? (I opposed the deletion of the Romanian rivers too). Wrong bracket! Forgot to sign - --Peterdownunder (talk) 06:14, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Found the discussion! [1] It was for Xavier in Kansas, which seems to be no more than a couple of fields full of sheep - we both thought it was non notable! However we lost that one. So in light of that, I will take the qd notice off the towns, someone else can argue about the notability of sport. Best wishes --Peterdownunder (talk) 06:50, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, fair enough. Cheers, Razorflame 20:55, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Romanian Wiktionary request

Hello! I have also replied on the spot. pugilat n. is the sport also known as boxing, and is synonym of pugilism m. The person who practises this sport is known as a pugilist m. The main difference between pugilat (or pugilism) and boxing is that the former is practised bare-fisted, while the latter is practised using gloves. But sometimes they are used interchangeably. old?

By old, I mean more than 5 days which is the "en" guideline for DYK. I don't "get" simple's dyk section as it can show any article whereas en's shows only new stuff. This is simple's idea of how it wants to do it I guess. I create new article's for simple each week, but obviously they will never be able to be as interesting as the old stuff. I hope I will understand what simple is doing in time. Victuallers (talk) 19:23, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See carefully

If you observe carefully, the pages I'm creating are not user pages but talk pages and as far as I know there is nothing wrong in creating talk pages because then how will a new user know about the Hindi wiki and how to start editing pages? Hope you're more observant in future. Thanks. हिन्दी (talk) 04:25, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Darkicebot is creating interlanguage links to and from redirects, which is bad. Can you have it filter for redirects when creating interlanguage links? Thanks. Kaldari (talk) 01:48, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Custom Siggy

Hello Razorflame. I linked to your talk page from http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Making_a_signature and followed each of its steps. The last step however is a tad unclear (or perhaps I am not reading it properly) as to whether in the My Settings field for 'new signature' what I put after the forward slash either, "/sig2" or, "Skychildandsonofthesun/sig2" "User:Skychildandsonofthesun/sig2".

I think this is where my problem lies. Either way, my customized signature is not working. It works on my subpage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Skychildandsonofthesun/sig2) but is not showing up when I put the four tildes and sign my posts. There seems to be two area that I need to update after making a subpage (My preferences: where I have intentionally left the user field empty) and (My settings: where I have input the tag -> {{subst:User:(Skychildandsonofthesun)/(User:Skychildandsonofthesun/sig2)}} ) but it does not seem to work. As mentioned, I think it is to do with what I put after the forward slash. Do you know what I am doing wrong or where I can get someone to help me sort this out.

THANKS --Skychildandsonofthesun (talk) 02:50, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are using just a subpage for a signature, just type in the full page name of the subpage (User:Skychildandsonofthesun/sig2) where you normally type in a signature, and make sure you leave the checkbox unchecked. Cheers, Razorflame 05:23, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interlanguage links on subpages

Darkicebot added interlanguage links to Portal subpages in [2] and [3]. Same with another subpage [4][5] and a third [6][7]. The subpages are transcluded on their parent page multiple times so Portal:Origami currently has 20 en: links. I fixed the similar problem at en:Portal:Origami by making 3 noinclude edits like [8]. Can something be done to avoid this, maybe to add noinclude on subpages when interlanguage links are added, or maybe skip subpages? I'm not sure whether the subpage feature is actually enabled in Portal space at simple. It is enabled for Portal at en. en:User:PrimeHunter 18:06, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't edit at simple but now it looks like it has no Portal namespace at all and Portal:Origami/Box-header is a mainspace page. In that case I can understand if Darkicebot got confused and thought it corresponded to en:Portal:Origami/Box-header which is a Portal space subpage at en. en:User:PrimeHunter 18:15, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have posted to User talk:Cremepuff222#No Portal namespace. Maybe the "Portal" pages should be deleted but I will not get involved in that. en:User:PrimeHunter 18:30, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
All the "Portal" pages have been deleted. There is no Portal namespace at simple and a discussion started by the creator showed that the community does not want portals. All the socalled "Portal:" pages were in mainspace at simple so Darkicebot was correct to consider them new articles here at simple. I guess the problem of a mainspace page with ":" in the name at one Wikipedia matching a namespace at another Wikipedia is relatively rare so it's acceptable if Darkicebot does not discover it. en:User:PrimeHunter 01:47, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would have definitely adopted you if I had seen the message before today, but since I see that Pmlineditor has already adopted you, I will leave you with him as Pmlineditor is a great user who will definitely be of much help to you. Yes nicely done:). I have just read trough the latest changes on the Tina Watson article on English Wikipedia and it seems they have added information about a shipwreck which the couple dived at. Plus a image. Could you check that out to.thanks--Sinbad (talk) 15:52, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It might give the article more depth (so to speak) to change the image on the Simple article and just mention the shipwreck. Whats your opinion?... :).--Sinbad (talk) 15:54, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Could you ask someone else at this point in time. I need time away from this site at the moment, so I'll be unavilable for several hours. Sorry, Razorflame 15:54, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template Infobox Company

Razorflame; Back on July 22, 2008, you made a change to Template:Infobox Company, see diff. In your change, you included the following code [[:Category:Types of companies|Type]]. This places a section name in the info box that becomes a link to the category. But it does not create an entry in the category. Did you intend the article authors to include the category in the article, or did you want to have the template include the category? Hi

Though I realise that this is most likely a futile attempt, I do wish that you would consider coming back. I, for one, greatly appreciated your contributions both as an editor of the encyclopaedia and as a member of our community and have noticed your absence since your retirement. Just something to maybe think about? Either way I wanted to drop in and say hi while you were around. Do take care of yourself and I hope to see you actively editing again sometime in the future. Yours, -- Lauryn (talk) 16:02, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. Yeah, I'll probably come back to the Simple English Wikipedia at some point in time, but not at the moment. Life is too busy for me right now to edit here now. Razorflame 06:22, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome no more? QD swich.

I thought all you did was welcome users: "All I do is welcome users. -Razorflame 07:19, 23 November 2007 (UTC)". Or did you change? I fixed your QD to A3. QD|A — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hazard-SJ (talkcontribs) 06:43, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That was from 2007. πr2 (talk • changes) 09:07, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I know, but the main part is that I changed his QD reason.  Hazard-SJ Talk 09:20, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
QD rule A3 is the same thing, so you did not have to change my reasoning because it was exactly the same as the one that you changed it to. Just to let you know, I've been here for nearly three years, and I know my way around. Thanks, Razorflame 02:27, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re welcoming

Hello, Razorflame. You've probably noticed from all the criticism I've received from my talkpage, but I'll explain anyway. Welcoming new IPs is a habit of mine, and I really like to encourage them to sign up. For those without constructive contributions, I use {{subst:welcomevandal}}, which is a pretty handy welcome template for vandals that have the potential to reform into regular contributors. I did check to make sure that they have made at least one contribution to a page and that it has made the page better. Otherwise I do know how to subst: uw-vandalism or uw-test (see Category:Vandalism and warning templates) I know that some IPs are dynamic, but they change at only one time of the day. In the meantime, I'm templating as effusive a welcome to them as possible so that they might be more inclined to come back and contribute to the wiki either as a different IP (to which I'll again be inviting them to come back) or as an autoconfirmed user. That's why I strongly believe in welcoming everyone to the team, including IPs that made even one edit and may never come back. Because we need everyone to contribute to the Wikipedia, and we musn't waste every chance that we have. I know all this, because I was once an IP editor. Thanks for listening, :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 05:16, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Feel free to do what you want, but I just think that it is kinda pointless. Razorflame 05:24, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wisconsin images

I see that you are from Wisconsin. I have taken hundreds or maybe thousands of images of communities and key locales in Wisconsin, especially on the eastern half of the state. I've added them primarily to the English Wikipedia; they have almost all been uploaded to Commons under in Wisconsin. There are plenty of images available if you reach your goal of creating these articles. If you find images that aren't on Commons but only on the English Wikipedia, then please leave me a message on either project and I'll take care of it. I'm an admin on both projects which makes that task substantially easier. Royalbroil 01:21, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nomination of Category:Clark County, Wisconsin

An editor has requested deletion of Category:Clark County, Wisconsin, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2013/Category:Clark County, Wisconsin and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Auntof6 (talk) 00:39, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that your bot User:Darkicebot on zh.wikipedia has been inactive for more than a year. Do you still need it?

If you wish to keep its bot flag, please let me know. If you no longer need it, or there is no reply in a month, the bot flag will be removed by local bureaucrat.

Inactive bot on nds.wp

Hello Razorflame,

Your bot Darkicebot is flagged with the 'bot' user-right on nds.wp. It has formerly been active with maintaining interwiki links. Thank you for your work! After the deployment of Wikidata there is no need for interwiki bots anymore. If you plan to use your bot for tasks other than interwiki maintenance in the future, please go to your bot's local nds.wp userpage and state what kind of tasks your bot will do in the future. Otherwise the bot flag of your account will be removed one month from now. If you don't plan to use your bot account on nds.wp anymore you don't have to do anything. If you want to keep your bot flag to do other tasks but don't plan to start with these tasks immediately please post a road map on your nds.wp userpage. If you signal interest in keeping your bot flag but fail to take up activity in the time until three months from now, your bot flag will also be removed. Thank you for your understanding. --Slomox (talk) 10:07, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Uklanjanje bot zastavice / Removal of bot flag

(English) I want to inform you that on bs.wiki there has been a voting that resulted in accepting the removal of bot flags for inactive and/or interwiki bots. Your bot has been identified to meet at least one of these criteria. This decision has been made due to the new developments with Wikidata by which all interwiki bots have become unnecessary. If you want to keep your bot flag, then please report that here by indicating what new task your bot will be performing and how this will be done. Note however that this has to be a concrete and useful task for the community before it will be accepted. If you have any questions, please let me know on my talk page. In case of no response, the removal of the bot flag will be performed within a few weeks from now. However, after that period you are always welcome to file a new request for a bot flag.

Hello!

Surprised to see a random edit from you just now. I just became active a week ago again, are you too? :) — RyanCross (talk) 00:58, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No. I will not become active on this project again until my articles on the Romanian Rivers are restored. I don't care about the asteroids any longer. Razorflame 01:00, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps I've missed a lot. — RyanCross (talk) 01:14, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All of my asteroid articles and articles about Romanian rivers were all RFDed while I was away between 2010-2011. Since then, I have no interest in editing this project again until at least the Romanian rivers are restored. I understand the notability concerns about the asteroids, but geographical features such as rivers, no matter how small they are, are inherently notable enough to deserve articles. If the English Wikipedia has an article for them, we should as well, in my opinion. Check in the RFD archives for it. Let me know if you manage to get them restored as I will not edit again until I hear that they are either restored or not. If they aren't, I won't be back ever. Razorflame 01:19, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your change to Pickled cucumber

How is this vandalism? --Auntof6 (talk) 01:48, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Based on this users' other contributions, it is automatically assumed to be vandalism considering that's what most of his other edits were. Razorflame 22:24, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's one thing to revert all of an editor's contributions because of a pattern of vandalism. It's another thing to mark all the reverted changes as vandalism without checking it. This change was not vandalism. Please be more careful in the future. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:09, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
