Regarding Wikidata and redirects[change source]

Here is the link to the discussion on Wikidata was referring to in the Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy discussion: d:Wikidata:Project chat#Issue pertaining to redirects. I hope that you can provide some insight into this, or at least provide feedback. Unless this gets addressed soon, I can see other editors creating more drastic cases of issues like what happened with my edits on Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy.

It's not necessarily rude, as it is for the sake of your privacy that I do not know your email preferences settings on your Wikimedia sites, so thus I took the action I thought would have received your attention, while leaving a note that you might be seeing the message in more than one place. 100 edits to stay an admin[change source]

Oh, that really is an issue! Let's just say it took a lot of pushing to get as far as having a clear criterion for staying as an admin. The bar was placed so low that anyone not actually dead could get over it in a weekend (100 edits a year). I'll leave you to guess what I think of that... Well, that's actually higher than on all the Wikimedia sites that I'm a part of. In my opinion, if they use it, it saves others some work, and if they don't, then it just gets taken away in the next inactivity cycle. Admins need to know what is going on. There have been some really difficult decisions about individuals which required good understanding and judgement. Other wikis may face other situations. English wiki is desperately short of admins, but being an admin there is no picnic...

I'm not sure why you think we need more CUs and OSighters. We agreed to limit the numbers of CUs. They are supposed to coordinate so that one is always available at short notice. Usually only admins need to use them, in connection with possible sock-puppetry. Oversighting is easy to get wrong. If an OS blanks a contribution it may mean that editors cannot express an opinion about a proposed ban. So the action is best kept for extreme cases that merit an immediate and indefinite ban.
