January 2014[change source]

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Jaffna District" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. Thank you. Hello, Shrikarsan. I have tagged the two articles below in the hope that you might come back and translate them into this project's language. The language needs to be simplified on any page that you copy over from the English Wikipedia.

There are guides on how to do this at Help:Translate English into Simple English and Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages. I have simplified Northern Province, Sri Lanka for you. Take a look at the changes I made [1].
When you're finished translating the page, add attribution to the talk page for all the users who wrote the content. This is required for our licensing. There is a step-by-step guide on how to do it at Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia. I have done it for you on Northern Province, Sri Lanka: here.

Do you have any questions about the attribution? I notice that you're not adding it. I need you to understand it if you're going to be copying, because it's a policy. Regarding simplification, another policy: shortening the articles to two or three sentences doesn't relieve you of the responsibility to simplify them, though it does make it easier. I have simplified a few of them but I can't do all of them for you. Please at least try to have a go at it. It may take some practice, in which case it is good to slow down and work on the articles you have already started. We don't need copies of articles already hosted on another Wikipedia. New categories[change source]

Hello, and thanks for the new pages you have created. You probably didn't know, but here on Simple English Wikipedia we want at least three entries in each new category. We do that so that the category structure doesn't get too complex. Some of the categories you created recently had only one entry, so they have been deleted. These are the categories that were deleted:

When creating new categories, please be sure that there are already at least three entries ready to go into them.
