Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hi, Softstarrs23, welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes. If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page. Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'change summary' whenever you change an article. Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler. Happy changing! Hi Softstarrs23! There is already an article for the girl group: All Saints (group). -- Reise Reise (talk) 18:12, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nomination of All Saints[change source]

An editor has requested deletion of All Saints, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2015/All Saints and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. -- Reise Reise (talk) 18:12, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

August 2015[change source]

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Rains Brook" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Please see Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia User:Rus793 (talk) 13:37, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One sentence articles[change source]

Hi Softstarrs23, thanks for your efforts to create some new articles. However, articles that are only one sentence long are not very helpful to anyone. If you are going to the effort of creating a page, please try to include some more information. For example Dachau concentration camp tells me very little. If I was going to look it up, I would probably already know that it was a concentration camp. So the current article does not help. A quick look at the English wiki page shows me a few things in the opening paragraph that you could use. For example, it was the first camp opened and it was for political prisoners. The camp was set up in an old factory, and was to force prisoners to work. Prisoners were treated very badly, often tortured, and 32,000 of them are recorded as having died.

So without simply copying and pasting, I can create an article that does include some information for readers. A one paragraph, 3 or 4 sentence opening, is much better than a single sentence. I would prefer editors to work on one or two good articles, rather than trying to create lots of useless ones. A one sentence article will often be deleted without warning. Good luck, see what you can do to improve the ones you have already started before creating anymore.--Peterdownunder (talk) 02:08, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry @Peterdownunder:, I didn't see this message when I went ahead and did some improvements. However, Softstarrs23, the article now can serve as an example of the kinds of improvements Peter is suggesting. Anything you can do to help create better articles helps the project. If you don't know how to do something just ask another editor. You can also post questions at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Thanks. User:Rus793 (talk) 19:15, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This was a duplicate of another stub you submitted at the same time, Bełżec extermination camp. Please don't do this. One article is sufficient. Also try to include enough information so readers will know what the article is about and what makes it important. User:Rus793 (talk) 14:19, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ian Woosnam[change source]

This one has a good claim of notability. The article still needs more though. Specifically:

  • Categories and a defaultsort
  • At least one reference. Articles about living people must have at least one reference. Articles about anything else, including dead people, should also have references.
  • Wikifying. That means putting the subject of the article in bold characters the first time it's mentioned, and adding links to the important terms in the article. For example, we have an article about the tournament you mention: it's at The Masters Tournament (note that the name should be in upper case, even if you don't link it).
  • An appropriate stub tag, since the article has minimal information.

Let me know if you have any questions. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:20, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your other new articles about people also need these things. If you'd like help learning how to add them, let me know. If they are not added, the articles could be deleted or redirected, so please look into this. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 01:05, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
