Asides in the History of the United States[change source]

I'm not sure putting the invisible asides in there was the best approach. I would have asked those questions on the talk page. But anyway, here are your answers. Jamestown being successful is in comparison to Roanoke Island, which was either abandoned or was killed off by Indians or smallpox. And there's no set date for when the United States became a postindustrial society, but it's generally thought to have occurred in the last decades of the 20th century Purplebackpack89 16:30, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your interest in Art[change source]

Hello Sonia, I heard you were interested in art, so I wondered whether it would interest you to fill some of the gaps we currently have at SEWP? - Impressionism has links to a few artists; I don't know about your time, but would it interest you to fill some of these gaps, when you get the time? ;) --Eptalon (talk) 11:02, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. Always good to get some redlinks out; I'm not the most qualified to deal with the subject but I can certainly try when time allows. sonia 09:44, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Music articles[change source]

I wondered why you had a note in your signature. Anyway, I used to know much about chords and the like when I was younger, so I might be able to help. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 23:30, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Music (performing it, that is, although I was educated in the theoretical aspects) is my secondary occupation, if that explains the quaver. sonia 23:33, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sonia[change source]

The Admin's Barnstar
Dear Sonia, thank you for all the great work you're doing here as an administrator. Your work is always done so sensibly and admirably! :) Yes, I know, Esther...lazing around and just giving barnstars to the more diligent people is not acceptable. Shame on thee. ;) Anyway, thanks for everything you do here: your presence is very dearly valued, and (by me at least) you are regarded as one of the best of our small, sweet community. Love, —Clementina talk 10:36, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm "more diligent" than you are? Heresy! I haven't touched content lately... That said, I'm honoured by your opinion and I thank you for the barnstar. I will be travelling the country (the hard way) for much of the rest of this year, but hope to be more active in the coming year. sonia 19:24, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, Heresy is Sin and Religion. It's believing in a different thing than most. Haven't I seen you before? I mean on the main English Wikipedia. Sonia, You are one of the few I trust enough to tell you about my problems. I mean like vandalism. Good luck on your trip around the country! Sincerely, Loudclaw (talk) 01:40, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was using "heresy" jokingly, Ian. :P sonia 09:02, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh.....ok. Could you please join WikiProject Warriors. It's a WikiProject I created to help Wikipedia's Warriors articles. I write these manually, as I have no template. Loudclaw (talk) 01:49, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Musical scales[change source]

I tried looking at some of them to see whether I could edit them but I realized that I forgot just about everything regarding music. Too bad, --Chemicalinterest (talk) 21:41, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Heattech page[change source]

We created this page in our university class. We were supposed to add information gradually. We really want to make a Heattech page. Can you give us more information about why our page was deleted. Thanks very much. Chelseas (talk) 03:01, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sonia, I have put the Heattech article into User:Chelseas/Sandbox where she can continue to work on it gradually. Peterdownunder (talk) 05:30, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Peter... forgot to put a notice up stating I was travelling. sonia 09:02, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Modern Egypt[change source]

I thought I'd mention a few things which come up in the body of the Sadat article. We'll need a short basic article on the October War. Also good would be articles on Egyptian Islamic Jihad and the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood is the foundational extremist group, and long predates Al-Quaeda. The enWP article on it is neutral to a fault, but we will have to go along with it, I suppose. Islamic Jihad was evidently the group which assassinated Sadat, and is directly linked to Al-Quaeda.

A bit more is needed about Sadat's assassination. Also, the article doesn't mention that Israel 'won' the October War, and that the Sinai was reclaimed only after lengthy negotiations, which included the USA and Syria. Anyway, it was courageous of you to tread on this tender ground! Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:13, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. I'm rather busy during the Christmas period, but I'll do my best- it's a subject which I have an interest in, and I rather enjoyed writing that article. Might see what I can do about improving Nasser's as well- it needs some work. sonia 09:02, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you improve Sadat and Nasser, I'll do Islamic Jihad and Moslem Brotherhood. Have a good Christmas. Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:12, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just not to do things twice: I started Muslim Brotherhood (based on the blurb of enwp, some simpilfication); Bin Laden said he was influenced by people with close ties to the Brotherhood, such as Qutb. Other than this, the links of the Brotherhood to organised terrorism is a matter of dispute. In any case, the Brotherhood needs more work. Note also that the article on the Brotherhood will entail a number of other articles (which are either people who were important, or movements with a Muslim background)... Anyway, have a nice Chrismas. --Eptalon (talk) 10:42, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of red light districts[change source]

Hi. I've seen that you have commented on the talk page of that article. The article is indeed dreadful. I was thinking, should that article (not one single citation on the whole page) continue to even exist? Can't we merge it into the main red light district article (just the notable examples with a reliable source)? I've also commented on the talk page of the List of red light districts, if you could look there a bit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.25.175.243 (talkcontribs)

Thanks for weighing in, looking at it now. sonia 00:08, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive me if I'm being dense here, but could you take a look at this edit and explain what you were trying to do? It left me rather confused. PrincessofLlyr talk 19:57, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. Well, um, the main part of that edit is the removal of the <!-- on the end of the block notice, which was eating the rest of the text-- thus, Kansan and IanP's signatures were not showing up. (If you look at the bottom of the previous revision you'll find it doesn't show at all.) If I had simply uncommented out the edits, the signatures would have rendered as my own; therefore, I added unsigned tags as an easier alternative to grabbing each editor's actual sig and the timestamp for their edit. I have no idea how the "c" got into "Wikipedia" in the process... sonia 04:24, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense now. It was just when looking at all of them in a diff it looked kinda strange. Sorry to bother you. PrincessofLlyr talk 14:21, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Filter management[change source]

Speaking of which, the links for the hit-counts for each of the filters in Special:AbuseFilter don't seem to be working whenever I try to get a specified list for any of them. I've had a comparison of this with one over at enwiki and it seems the problem lies in a missing Filter ID field in Special:AbuseLog which is supposed to be supplied with a &wpSearchFilter= parameter in the URL. Should I file a bug at bugzilla? :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 06:04, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
