Adding pictures[change source]

When adding pictures to articles, they should always be added through Wikimedia Commons. Are there any specific articles you want images added to, or any specific images from Commons you want added? Kansan (talk) 19:28, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An extra thought: enWP uses many pics which are not on Commons, and so can't be used on Simple. They are allowed restricted use of copyright pics under U.S. 'Fair Use' regulations. We are not. Therefore you will see plenty on enWP which we can't use. To find out, click on the pic and find the 'Commons' logo/label. If it's not there, you won't be able to use the pic here. I'm very thankful to both of you for clearing my doubts. I'll need your help from time to time in simple wiki.--Soumit ban (talk) 11:40, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article creation[change source]

I read the talk page post on Kansan's page. Yes, you can, as long as the article has sources that can be relied on. Loudclaw/Hey, let's collaborate!/Desk/WP:Warriors/My changes 03:57, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure it follows the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. --SEPTActaMTA8235 11:52, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Swami Vivekananda[change source]

Hello and welcome to our wikipedia. Macdonald-ross told me you needed help. I have looked at the article Swami Vivekananda, and I have made some changes, which try to bring it more in line with what we have here. As follows:

  • I have added more links to other pages (in general we link a term only the first time it occurs)
  • I have added bold to some words (as explained in the Manual of Style)
  • I have added two categories (every article needs a category). The template {{BD}} adds birth and death year categories
  • I have started to simplify, to get shorter sentences; most of our readers don't have English as their mother tongue.

I have only done this for the introduction; I leave it up to you (or someone else) to do similar edits for the remaining sections. If you look at other articles about people, such as Dan Kelly, Billy Graham, Wernher von Braun or Bobby Dodd you will quickly see what articles about people generally look like over here. Don't be afraid to make changes, and don't hesitate to get back to me if you have questions.--Eptalon (talk) 21:02, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for rendering me a helping hand, but could you suggest me an appropriate infobox for the article?--Soumit ban (talk) 05:03, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We do not have any infobox templates for religious leaders other than the Pope. There is Hindu leader infobox on enwp I could port over. A better choice may be to create a generic religious leader infobox, unless you think we will have several for the Hindu box. Right now, about the only one available is Infobox people. Thank you.--Soumit ban (talk) 05:45, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, check out User:The Three Headed Knight/TemplateTest. This is my initial version, and it is still in test mode. Look it over, see if there is anything you don't like or want to add. Fell free to make any suggestions. If you want to try it out, just use {{User:The Three Headed Knight/TemplateTest}}. When it goes live, it will be {{Infobox regilious leader}}
I am thinking about getting rid of group and just using the religion and denomination/sect parameters. What do you think? Cheers--The Three Headed Knight (talk) 06:11, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Soumit ban. You have new messages at The Three Headed Knight's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
{{Infobox religious leader}} is now live. I have converted the infobox in the Swami Vivekananda article. Check it out and make sure everything is correct. Cheers--The Three Headed Knight (talk) 00:45, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
