Articles on Star Wars characters

Hi, TDKR. As you know, articles here have to show notability of their subject. I don't believe that's shown on these new articles. Not only does the article text not say why the character is notable, there are no reliable references on most of these. The enwiki articles have plenty of references. Can you add some good references to these pretty quickly? If not, it's probably better to have an article listing the characters instead and just redirect them. Let me know: I'll wait a little before redirecting them. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:57, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Donald Trump vs the Others

I don't really like Donald Trump too much. He wants to win the United States Presidency. But I'm afraid if he wins, he'll cause urgent disaster. Hillary Clinton is gonna likely beat him. Bernie Sanders may beat him. Angela Maureen (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@September 1988: - It's been proven Bernie would beat Trump in a landslide. Clinton would be Trump but almost narrowly. I think Bernie is the most electable candidate for Democrats and Marco Rubio or John Kasich for the Republicans. I respect you opinion because this is the USA. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 22:35, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sanders

I'm sure you're watching the page, but in case you're not: Talk:Bernie Sanders - left some comments. Hopefully more by tomorrow. Let me know if you want me to do anything. Osiris (talk) 05:08, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help me? I'm having a hard time proving notability for Dinah Manoff. I need some help. Angela Maureen (talk) 23:30, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder

The recent death template does not need to be on every article about someone who died recently. It is only needed if the article is getting a lot of activity. Please don't put it on articles where that is not the case. Refer to the template documentation for more specifics. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:29, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DYK queue 2

I noticed that the image in this queue has been deleted from Commons. In fact, all images of the building were deleted. I'm not sure of the procedure for choosing an image, or whether the article with the image should be at the top of the list, so I thought I'd bring this to your attention. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:09, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Bernie Sanders

Hi TDKR Chicago 101, I have added a review of the article on the talk page. I hope the comments help. Not all of them may be right, but if I think it would help, I pointed it out. All the best, --Yottie =talk= 12:32, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Did you hear that Bernie Sanders won New Hampshire? Angela Maureen (talk) 04:49, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hillary Clinton likely to win

I think Hillary Clinton is more likely to win than Bernie Sanders. Thus she's likely to be the first female President. Angela Maureen (talk) 22:26, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well that's random XD. It's a possibility, but she does faces challenges. She was in the same place 8 years ago. I don't like Hillary that much. She's too corrupt and doesn't care for the American people as much as Sanders. I think Sanders will win the nomination, not in a landslide, but will win. If Hillary does win, which is a possibility, she won't win the White House because the most likely Rep. candidates Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Marco Rubio will win key states (Ohio and Florida). My opinion. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 22:29, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • No matter who wins, I think this will be the most interesting election cycle we have seen in a very long time! Etamni | ✉   21:00, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reading between the lines in refs is not a good thing

I see two references that have been used for Boutros-Ghali's death. The one from The New York Times says:

  • "died on Tuesday in an Egyptian hospital"
  • "died Tuesday in a hospital in Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo, where he had been admitted a few days earlier with a broken leg"

The one from the BBC says\

  • "He died at a Cairo hospital on Tuesday, Egypt's state news agency said, after being admitted with a broken pelvis."

That's all they say about his death. Neither says that he fell. Neither gives a cause for the broken bone(s).

When you updated the article about him, you stated that he had a broken pelvis after a fall. However, the reference there is the one from The New York Times, which mentions a broken leg, not pelvis.

When you updated Deaths in 2016, you added "complications from a fall". The reference doesn't support that.

You can't assume that an injury shortly before death is related to the death. It's likely to be related, but we can't assume things, we can only report what the references say. I have taken the specific cause of death out of both pages. Please be more precise when using references. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:54, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Harper Lee

I was wondering why you change the reference for Harper Lee's death in Deaths in 2016. As far as I know, the BBC is at least as good a reference as The New York Times. Also, I believe we prefer the word writer over author, because it's simpler. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:33, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's good to have multiple sources about her death. Plus it was used in the English Wikipedia. On deaths in 2016 she is sourced with the NYT and on her page the BBC. - TDKR (using my phone)

RfD nomination of Faye Reagan

An editor has requested deletion of Faye Reagan, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2016/Faye Reagan and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Thanks for your work on adding biographies. While you did not formally take part in the Big Reference Weekend 2016, you made created many articles during that time, all of which were referenced properly. Peterdownunder (talk) 10:01, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Super Tuesday 2016

Did you hear Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump won seven states? Also, Bernie Sanders won four (Colorado, Minnesota, Vermont and Oklahoma). Whosoever do you think may win the Presidency? Angela Maureen (talk) 01:55, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @September 1988: - Dont forget overall he lost Iowa and Massachusetts by a hair and was tied in some areas in Nevada. He doesn't have strong support in the South, but will gain steam in the North and possibly Oregon and Washington state. I'm hoping he wins Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Maine, Missouri, Kansas, Idaho and maybe just maybe California. In the Democratic Abroad primaries, Sanders has won ALL countries voting. Since Jeb Bush left, I've been supporting John Kasich for the GOP nom but it sounds like a Mitt Romney run isn't too crazy to believe in. I believe if Rubio or Kasich win, then Hillary has some competition. Although Sanders still has a chance at winning. I believe the idea of supperdelegates undermines the grassroots campaign as said by DNC Debbie (who I believe has become too corrupt and must resign) But overall, what an election cycle this is! --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 03:41, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Simplifying stuff

Hi TDKR. I've just finished February on the new pages list. Do you think you could take a bit of time to look over some of the changes that I (and some others) have been made to the articles that you created in February? There is mainly the issue of complexity. Good job on Democratic Party presidential primaries, 2016, but it's still pretty complex – an average of 12.4 words per sentence according to my tool and a Flesch Reading Ease score of 43.64. You ideally want that to be at least higher than 50 for an average article on Simple English. The topic of an election is not inherently complex, you just need to get rid of all the jargon and shorten the sentences wherever possible.

Republican Party presidential primaries, 2016 is slightly worse. An average of 16.4 words per sentence if you exclude the sentence that lists the candidates (if you include that sentence the average goes up to 21.5!) and a Flesch score of 42.05.

The copying is the problem. In copying Democrats Abroad primary, 2016, you only changed one word: "participate" to "be". Forgive my frankness, but that's a dismal effort for someone who's been editing as long as you. Normally I would delete something like that. With the amount of articles that you create a week, I just think that you need to take more time to actually simplify rather than just copy and paste.

For your articles about recent deaths, you seem to use a standard structure – which is great – but the last sentence, where you state the date, place and cause of death and the age... instead of combining all those clauses into one sentence, consider how the length of the sentence is going to affect readability. An easy clause to split off is the age of the person. So instead of: "...at the age of 90", split that into a new sentence; "She was aged 90" or as I did here, "She was 96 years old".

The last thing that I want to mention is just a formatting issue. Unless it needs to be set, try to avoid specifying the size of an image, because it overrides the size specified in a user's Preferences. You may decide that an image needs to be made larger or smaller, but if not, just don't specify the size. Like here; unless there was a need for it to be set at 200px, a user's personal settings should take priority.

Let me know what you think or whether you have any questions. All the best, Osiris (talk) 10:30, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Democratic Party presidential primaries, 2016

Regarding Democratic Party presidential primaries, 2016, in the section about superdelegates, you have a sentence which states, Also known as "unpledged delegates," they may change their preference at any time and talk about one sixth of the delegates to the convention. It's not clear what you are trying to say here (specifically the portion I underlined). Etamni | ✉   08:17, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

the death of Prince

Are you sad about Prince dying? He was among my many favorite artists. I was crying when Michael Jackson passed away, and felt like doing the same for Prince earlier today. Angela Maureen (talk) 01:48, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @September 1988: - Prince is by far a cultural icon and a beautiful human being. I am shocked and sadden by his death. Such a humble and kind human. Big fan of his earlier works but as cheesy as this may sound I really do like Purple Rain. But I'm mainly shocked. Prince has had a gifted and strong influence in the American music scene. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 02:44, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ángel de Andrés López

Hi, TDKR. I'm sure you didn't mean to, but you got a couple of things wrong in this article. The first one was the death place. You had it as Madrid. That is the city of Madrid. He actually died in Miraflores de la Sierra, which is in the Community of Madrid, not in the city. That's an easy mistake to make if you're not familiar with the autonomous communities of Spain.

The other thing was the defaultsort. You had "Lopez, Angel de Andres", but "Andres" needs to be at the beginning, before "Lopez". Some Spanish people and people from Spanish-speaking places, including this one, have two surnames. If both are in the article title, you use both at the beginning of the sort key. It's a good idea to check what name(s) to use for sorting. There are a couple of ways you can find out. One is to see if another Wikipedia, for example enwiki or eswiki, has a sort key for the person. Another is to see how the person is referred to in either other Wikipedias' articles or in sources. People with two surnames are sometimes referred to by both surnames and sometimes by just the first one.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions about this. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:44, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to see you back

Hi, TDKR. It's nice to see you back, especially updating/creating articles on people who have recently died. I was looking at the article on Fidel Castro. Are you finished updating it yet? I ask because I see some verb tenses that still need to be changed, but I see that your last edit was pretty recent. Let me know. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:39, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Auntof6:: Hey! How are you! I was taking a long break plus with the "crippling" amount of study work I've been getting, creating articles as much as I use to has been limited. I definitely be updating the Castro article and changing the tenses. Thanks again! --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 22:03, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nominees for cabinet positions and other offices

For the people who have been chosen by Donald Trump for various positions (cabinet secretaries, ambassadors, etc.), please hold off adding that information to infoboxes until the nominees are confirmed. As it stands right now, they haven't even been formally nominated, because that can't happen until Trump is president. Besides that, there's a good chance that these nominations will be contested, and many of the people may not be confirmed. Similarly, hold off adding information to articles about current cabinet members about the nominees being their successors. I have reverted these changes, at least the ones I could see. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:31, 13 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
