From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello! I'm assuming you've popped over from the English Wikipedia, so you're probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay on! Here's a few links to help you adjust:

There's plenty to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that don't exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you'd like to do. Thanks for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need a hand.

Also, blocked before you could ask for it ;) Cheers. sonia 07:34, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome, thanks! First time I've ever asked for "me" to be blocked ;-) TFOWR (talk) 07:40, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Replying again to check/record my new signature. TFOWR 07:48, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Administrators are nice people for fulfilling requests ;)  Davtra  (talk) 13:45, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're here, too!? I guess this is where you all go when it's quiet on en.wiki! And absolutely agree about admins - I guess I need to watch my Ps and Qs here, eh?! TFOWR 14:38, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I come here to get away from all the action on English Wikipedia. It's nice and quiet here... and when I am writing I don't have to think as hard because this encyclopedia uses simple English :)  Davtra  (talk) 23:26, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(I know you're semi-retired, hopefully not too semi-retired to miss this...)
I actually find simple English a little daunting... it's something I'd have to get my head round. I keep meaning to edit at the Scottish wikipedia, too, on the grounds that I may not be a native speaker (born in NZ, where we tend not to speak Scottish...) but I have spent about half my life surrounded by Scottish speakers, and do tend to speak Scottish in my daily life. But it's not so easy when I try to edit!
Anyway, since my threats are meaningless here, I'll say it here - un-retire now or I'll block you! (I'll get Sonia to make the same threat at en.wiki...!)

I've been summoned by sonia! Block me? You wouldn't dare. Nobody blocks Davtra ;) Speaking Scottish English doesn't mean you can't write in simple sentences. Amn't I wrong? I'm "semi-retired" on English Wikipedia but not on Simple English. To be honest, I hardly check here because my watchlist is moving very slowly, yes, so very slo... *falls asleep*  Lady Davtra  (talk) 22:40, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're absolutely right (or "richt" - I'd "wiktionary to "richt", but it doesn't cover the Scots word) - to be honest, speaking Scots doesn't even qualify me to write it... :-( I had a look at an essay Sonia had written here, and Simple English seems (a) well qualified for certain pages at en.wiki (cutting out the tedious legalese that creates innumerable wikilawyering possibilities), and (b) hard to write. It's a skill, like any other, and one I'd need to acquire.
I'd only threaten to block you here, where my threats are meaningless ;-) Sonia will threaten you at en.wiki, for the same reason ;-) Good to see you're not fully-retired, though: I guess we can lift our threats! TFOWR 09:22, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nomination of Template:Nihongo core[change source]

An editor has requested deletion of Template:Nihongo core, a page you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2023/Template:Nihongo core and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. Auntof6 (talk) 05:39, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
