The Top 100 Crime Novels of All Time[change source]

I see you're working on this page. Did you realize that there's a template ({{non}}) in some of the entries that is adding a quick delete request to the article? Can I help you find whatever you meant to use instead of that? --Auntof6 (talk) 06:35, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's odd. I'm only aware of {{delete}} for quick delete.

I developed this page at frwiki, so it was still using "oui" and "non".

The main one for quick delete is {{QD}}. We also have templates for some of the specific qd reasons -- {{non}} redirects to the one for the "nonsense" reason. By the way, I see you listed Pulitzer Prize for Fiction as a related page. How is that related to this topic? --Auntof6 (talk) 08:47, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I normally do this on my book pages, although I notice that I never got around to doing it for my earlier page Le Monde's 100 Books of the Century.

On that page, it's Pulitzer - Steinbeck, Hemingway, Mitchell and somebody else.

I'm really not seeing the connection between the Pulitzer Prize and this list as a whole, so I removed it from the article. If it's that one or more books in the lists won the prize, you could just mention that by each title.
One other note on the crime novel article: it's against Wikipedia's manual of style (en:WP:MOSFLAG) to use flags the way you have there. The name of the country should be used instead. It's a book list.

It contains links to other relevant book lists, unfortunately simplewiki has few to choose from.

Many of the authors on the list have won literary awards.

So, if you like an author on the list, go and look at some other lists involving your favourites from this one.

This is a trivial matter.

I am restoring the Pulitzer. Leave it alone.

If you have a policy about flags, that's dumb. Do as you please.

I see what you're thinking about book lists. I think that purpose would be better served by creating a category for book lists. Now that you've created these two new ones, we have enough pages for a category, so I'll create one.

There is a good reason for the rule about flags. It's so that people can see what country is being indicated. Not everyone recognized every flag. It's not just this Wikipedia, it's on English Wikipedia, too. That is explained in the Manual of Style at the link I gave you. Are you saying you think I lied about the rule concerning use of flags? You can see it for yourself at the link I gave (en:WP:MOSFLAG). Not everyone knows about every detail in the the manual of style, so we often end up with things in articles that are against the various policies and guidelines. Those need to be cleaned up, but since we are all volunteers here, and not very many, we don't keep up with everything that needs fixing.
