Hello, Victuallers, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.

If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

Good luck and happy editing! Nishkid64 14:34, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As you can see it took me over a year to read this ... thanks anyway. contact via English Wikipedia Victuallers (talk) 12:39, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hi, Victuallers! Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes!

If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page.

Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'edit summary' whenever you change an article.

Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler.

If you make a short article please mark it with {{stub}}, our guideline is here.

Happy editing! Goblin 13:20, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bot fail[change source]

Hey Vic,

Sorry about the bot fail, i'm looking into what caused it! I know you're not a vandal ;).

Sorry again, and nice to see you helping with some Derbyshire articles! Perhaps you could inject some interest into our DYK?

Finally, could you possibly help me with a VGA or GA? (VGA = FA). I've done one VGA so far (Crich Tramway Village, no less!) but I want to get more as the wiki really needs them! I'm thinking Victoria Line (User:Bluegoblin7/Sandbox1) unless there's anything you want help with?

Regards,

Rollback[change source]

Hey Victuallers. Since you're an EN admin, I've gone ahead and granted you rollback. Hope you don't mind, and enjoy! :-) Meetare Shappy Cunkelfratz! 14:47, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stick around :-)[change source]

Hi Victuallers, I know you're an admin on enWP and are probably busy there, but I'd really like to encourage you to stick around here. I've looked at a few of the edits you've made and I know you'd be a real asset to a project that I personally think is very important. Give it a think! We don't give credit... Goblin 17:10, 26 July 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Juliancolton![reply]
It appears we are giving it now. Best, NonvocalScream (talk) 17:13, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly disagree. As have others. I thought you were a discussion engager??? Goblin 17:15, 26 July 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Shappy![reply]

Well thats a nice welcome back from my wiki break. Well I didnt realise you didnt give credits .... thats not made too clear on the DYK page. So I will value this one all the more! Thanks to all those who gave this or agreed with the giving. Victuallers (talk) 17:09, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Old pages?[change source]

What exactly did you mean by old pages? Pages that have been created a while ago are definitely old and may be outdated, but nevertheless, their information is still fairly good :). Cheers, Razorflame 01:12, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[change source]

Well thank you for your welcome and, what a nice Image map example on you UP. I'll have to keep an eye on your contributions, hoping to learn some more exciting things. --Ida Shaw (talk) 12:30, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Victuallers! Wow, thank you for honoring me with so kind a message, and so helpful an image. My article on Oliver Goldsmith was actually one of my messiest articles...:P But I must for ever be proud of it hereafter, as I have gotten to know you through it! I'll certainly use the image on your UP! I hope you stay around. Yours very sincerely, Classical Esther 02:58, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your statements[change source]

You claimed elsewhere that my pages are a game.

As I proved with The Author's Farce, I am simplifying these pages. It takes time. This is on my queue for simplification. I do not have as much time to devote to it as I am doing all of the daily maintenance for Wikiversity and I have real life matters that I have been busy with. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:03, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The pages are not a game. Neither is a ban. Playing the rules is a game. I do not think you have broken any rules at wikiversity or here. Good. Please note, I only infrequently visit here so do not think me ignorant if I take a while to reply. Victuallers (talk) 15:36, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are no "rules" nor is there really a game. The Elegy page went through as I licensed it here to ensure that there were no incompatibility problems. I had approval from Foundation members then and also for this time around. I also did not ask anyone directly but only stated that they were licensed under GFDL. Others do as they wish, and there was no proxying. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:58, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Article is now being simplified I guess Victuallers (talk) 11:36, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
.... actually the article is still not simplified... must be very busy Victuallers (talk) 08:50, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This editor is an Apprentice Editor and has the right to show this Wikipedia Picture Book.

Here is your first Simple English award, recognising 600 edits in four years. Let's hope we can get some more of your time and not have to wait another four years for your next book. Best wishes, --Peterdownunder (talk) 08:35, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much - I'm still confused by the Simple mission, but I'm optimostic that it will eventually find its role. Actually I have run the "Wright Challenge" which has brought lots of new editors and articles to "Simple" in last few months. I was hoping that some Simple Editors would rise to the challenge too. There are still 4 or 5 weeks to go. Contact me on EN if anyone needs help with this. Victuallers (talk) 08:47, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion of Nagqu[change source]

The page you wrote, Nagqu, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. MathXplore (talk) 17:01, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the alert but I cannot see the delete warning on the article. Presumably someone has realised that it was a ridiculous proposal. Victuallers (talk) 08:07, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
