War on women

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

War on women is a political slogan commonly used in politics of the United States to describe a large number of laws, statues and policies of the Republican Party that are considered an attempt to restrict women's rights, especially reproductive rights.[1][2][3][4] Prominent Democrats like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,[5] former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi[6] and former Senator Barbara Boxer[7] as well as many feminists use this term to criticize proponents of those laws in order to put stereotypes and religious beliefs on women through legislation. The slogan also describes other Republican policies like the access to reproductive health services, especially birth control and abortion; re-define rape for the purposes of public service for abortion;[8][9] prosecution of criminal offense against women and sexism in workplaces against women.[10]
