It consists of low hills, which form the most western spur of the Carpathian Mountains.
It is well-known for its winegrowing (the biggest of Austria).
The maximum temperature in July and August is about 24 °C.
The Weinviertel comprises the following districts:
- Horn District (small part in the east)
- Krems-Land District (small part in the east)
- Tulln District (northern part)
