Wikipedia:Go ahead, vandalize

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vandalism ruins the fun for everyone.

Do you like to vandalize?

  • Are you bored or angry?
  • Is it funny?
  • Do you want to get others angry because it's fun? Or do you want to do it for fun?

If you really want to ruin our project that badly, why not? Go ahead. Click the Change button on any page, except for protected pages and this page.

You may get caught by a computer. If you do, change the page again and again until your edit is saved.

If you are a member of the Counter-Counter-Vandalism Unit, you may be permanently banned from all Wikipedia sites.

So you did it, right? If so, this is what will happen next:

  • The vandalism you insert will be removed. This usually happens in minutes or seconds. A lot of very clear vandalism is undone right away by a computer.
  • You will be left with a nasty warning on your talk page, which can be deleted. However, it will stay in your talk page archive and everyone will be able to see it.
  • Your vandalism will stay in your user contributions, and the history of the page you vandalized. It will have your username (and, if you are not logged in, your IP address) in it, and it might have a tag that may say "possible vandalism". Unless someone asks an admin to hide your edit, anyone will be able to see your vandalism, which will look nasty if you want to be a real editor.
  • If you continue to vandalize, you will be left with more nasty messages, and then a big nasty message telling you that you cannot edit Wikipedia. If you click the Change button on any page now (except your user talk page), you will see this is true.
  • You can appeal by leaving a message on your user talk page. An admin will see it and say yes or no. If they say no, you can wait, or you can appeal again. If you make too many appeal messages, you may not be able to edit your user talk page.
  • When you are able to edit again, or if an admin says yes to your appeal, you can continue to vandalize. If you do, you may be banned from Wikipedia, and will not be able to edit using your IP address or range. Any accounts you make from other IP addresses found to belong to you will also be banned. If you continue to change your IP address to continue vandalizing, we may report this to your Internet Service Provider.
  • If you vandalize without being logged in, it will make it harder for other people on the same IP address range to edit Wikipedia or make an account. If you vandalize from a shared IP or proxy server, you may even be blocked for a longer time.
  • Any page that you may have vandalized may be protected, which will make it harder for other people to edit.
  • If you are found using a lot of accounts, you will be caught by a checkuser. Your IP address and accounts will be blocked.
  • If you vandalize other Wikimedia projects, such as WikiNews and Wiktionary, you may be globally banned from Wikimedia.
  • When or if you lose access to the internet, find a new internet service provider until there are none left to edit Wikipedia with. If that happens, you can commit other crimes against Wikimedia, such as murder. Go on, do it! Rules stink, right?
  • If you find it too hard to vandalize on your own, you could ask your brother or sister, or a cousin.
  • And if you decide you want to edit Wikipedia and add information for everyone to see, it may already be too late. You may only be remembered as the joker who posts ceiling fans everywhere. Is that what you want your life’s legacy to be? Eh?

If you followed all of these instructions, congratulations. Enjoy your permanent ban from Wikipedia, and unless you want to edit with real information, so long. If you also vandalized other Wikimedia projects, congratulations. Enjoy your permanent ban from all Wikimedia projects.
