Wikipedia:Professional wrestling spoilers

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Professional wrestling promotions often tape events in advance of airing it on TV and professional wrestling news websites often have people in attendance to send in reports of what is happening at the taping. These reports are then posted to the websites as spoilers.

These spoilers should not be acknowledged for these reasons:

  • Something can change in editing that changes the meaning of what was recorded.
  • The promotion doesn't recognize it until it airs. And as such they could change their minds between the time it was taped and the time it is aired.
  • The report may not be accurate. Someone could very well have sent in lies to that website that the website posted without checking the accuracy.

Such spoilers could be crystal balling, or be a violation of Wikipedia's biography of a living persons policy.
