How about adding the following from En Wikipedia:

Self-published and questionable sources as sources on themselves

Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as:

  • the material is not unduly self-serving;
  • it does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities);
  • it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject;
  • there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity;
  • the article is not based primarily on such sources.

Absent this rule, it will be very difficult to add a lot of references to Simple Wikipedia. Racepacket (talk) 11:24, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Non-English[change source]

How about adding, "If a source is written in a language that is not English, please include the language name in the citation." Racepacket (talk) 09:07, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Are there any sources in Simple English Wikipedia?[change source]

I looked Myanmar and Bangladesh articles, and there were no sources. Are there anywhere? 82.141.118.151 (talk) 11:51, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Go to Talk:Myanmar and Talk:Bangladesh to discuss about this.

Circular sources[change source]

Hello,
I'm worried that this rule does not mention one important problem with sources. Sometimes, other people (and books and websites) copy from wikipedia. This means that the source cannot be trusted. On en.wikipedia I have even seen cases where an editor simply made up stuff, then an external website copied it from en.wikipedia, so then there was a source which supported the made-up stuff! I think simple wikipedia should have a rule against using sources which have copied from a wiki. Does this seem reasonable? Bobrayner (talk) 12:01, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Sounds good. Please feel free to add it. Osiris (talk) 12:21, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

templates available when editing?[change source]

In the complex English wikipedia, there's another menu when editing called Cite, which has templates that show the fields and you fill in what you have available. That's a pretty neat feature, any plans on bringing that to Simple English? Nerfer (talk) 20:59, 8 February 2013‎

Good question.--Peterdownunder (talk) 08:08, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi! We have it installed as a gadget, but you need to enable it. Just go to the "Gadgets" tab on your preferences page and make sure that the item beginning with "refTools" is checked. Osiris (talk) 08:14, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

XKCD image[change source]

Can I add this xkcd image?

Soumya-8974 (talk) 04:17, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Great cartoon, but no, you can't add it. You could put a link to the image however.--Peterdownunder (talk) 06:31, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
En Wiki uses this comic.

Enwiki has a different image policy to us - we only use images from Wikimedia Commons.--Peterdownunder (talk) 12:57, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
