Women's Health and Equal Rights Initiative (WHER) is a Nigerian feminist, non-profit organization led by LBSMW (lesbian, bisexual, and other women who have sex with women). It works to increase understanding of sexuality and sexual orientation, protect the rights and wellbeing of LBSMW, and provide health and support services for LBQ women. WHER does this through advocacy, education, empowerment, and psychosocial support.[1][2]

Women’s Health and Equal Rights (WHER) Initiative is the first LBSMW organization in Nigeria. It was founded in 2011 in Abuja by Akudo Oguaghamba.[3] WHER works with groups like the Solidarity Alliance for Human Rights to protect and promote the rights of sexual and gender minorities. The organization advocates for human rights and equal opportunities for marginalized women in Nigeria.[4] WHER has carried out many programs, including mental health and human rights training, financial empowerment workshops, awareness programs, and community education activities. One of its key programs is the Sister2Sister initiative, which trains leaders across the country to offer counseling, peer support, and organize local community networks in their cities.[5][6]
