Albert O. Hirschman (1915–2012) was a famous economist and social scientist, author of some books on political economy. He studied economics at the London School of Economics, at HEC Paris, at the University of Paris and at the University of Trieste.[1]

His first main contribution was in development economics.[2]

In World War II, he played a key role in rescuing refugees in occupied France.[3]
