Summary

Description A North American A-5A Vigilante bomber (BuNo 149283) of Heavy Attack Squadron VAH-7 "Peacemakers of the Fleet", Carrier Air Group 6 (CVG-6), assigned to the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) in 1962. This aircraft was later converted to an RA-5C and shot down by flak on 18 May 1968 over Vietnam while being assigned to Heavy Reconnaissance Squadron RVAH-11 "Checkertails", Attack Carrier Air Wing 11 (CVW-11), aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). The pilot ejected and became a prisoner of war, the radar attack navigator was killed (for details of this loss see [1]).
