English: Today in Toronto our Conservative family and the Filipino-Canadian community said goodbye to Senator Tobias Enverga.
His unstoppable optimism and sunny personality will surely be missed by all of us. He was the kind of person who could make anybody feel welcome and valued. Always a trailblazer, he was the first Filipino-Canadian Senator and the was the Filipino-Canadian to win election to any office in the City of Toronto and as the first visible minority to win election to the Toronto Catholic School Board. His commitment to his community, his country, and to Canada’s diversity and pluralism will be deeply missed by his many friends in the Senate and in the House of Commons. Today I offered my sincerest condolences to his family, wife Rosemer and their three children Rystle, Reeza and Rocel on behalf of the Official Opposition and our Conservative caucus. May his memory long be a blessing to those who loved him.Français : Aujourd’hui à Toronto, notre famille conservatrice et la communauté philippino-canadienne ont dit au revoir au sénateur Tobias Enverga.
Son optimisme inébranlable et sa personnalité enjouée manqueront beaucoup à tous. C’était le genre d’homme avec qui tout le monde se sentait à l’aise et apprécié. Pionnier de toujours, il a été le premier sénateur philippino-canadien, le premier Philippino-Canadien à se faire élire à une charge publique à la Ville de Toronto, et le premier membre d’une minorité visible à être élu au conseil scolaire catholique de Toronto. Son engagement envers sa communauté et son pays, et envers la diversité et le pluralisme du Canada manquera beaucoup à ses nombreux amis au Sénat et à Chambre des communes. Au nom de l’Opposition officielle et de notre caucus conservateur, j’offre mes plus sincères condoléances à sa famille, sa conjointe Rosemer et leurs trois enfants Rystle, Reeza et Rocel. Puisse sa mémoire rester bien vivante chez ceux qui l’aimaient. |
