Summary

Description
English: World population chart, from 1800 to 2100 — showing both estimates and actual population counts.
  • World population estimates from 1800 to 2100, based on:
  1. United Nations projections (in 2010) — "high" (colored red), "medium" (orange), and "low" (green)
  2. U.S. Census Bureau (historical estimates) — (colored black).
  3. Actual recorded population figures (colored blue).
  • According to the highest estimate, the world population may rise to 16 billion by 2100; according to the lowest estimate, it may decline to 6 billion.

Notes
  • My first SVG. Made using Gnumeric (using the chart tool and the data) and tweaked using Inkscape. Designed to be very similar to the original PNG version chart.
  • "If things go according to plan, I'll teach myself how to use Gnuplot and make a version with that (and post the source code) which probably won't look like the original version."
