Hominoids are a kind of primate. There are two groups of hominoids:
- the lesser hominoids (gibbons and siamangs);
- and the great hominoids (orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and humans)
The main difference between monkeys and hominoids is that monkeys almost always have tails, but hominoids never do. There are also differences between their teeth and the way they move their arms. Nonhuman hominoids are commonly referred to as apes.
