1200 (MCC) was a leap year starting on Saturday in the Julian calendar. It was the last 1200th year of the Common Era or the Anno Domini designation, the 200th year of the 2nd millennium, the first year of the 1200s decade, and the last year of the 12th century. The year 2000 was also like it. As of the start of the year, the Gregorian calendar was seven days ahead of the Julian calendar. The Julian calendar was the dominant calendar in use at the time.
The Proleptic Gregorian calendar sometimes recognizes it as a century leap year. But other calendars only recognize it as a leap year starting on Saturday. The next century leap year occurred in the year 1600.
