Making Wikipedia more accessible[change source]

I like Wikipedia. I use it quite often.

I occasionally write in talk pages like this

I am very cautious about adding to the main topic page.

This is partly because it is easy to get into a lot of technical detail and that is daunting.

I believe a lot of that detail is relevant, but not critical when starting out as a contributor. So, how can I make a start?

Well, I believe a useful starting point would be to update or write pages for the simple english version of Wikipedia.

However, doing this without any community help seems a waste of my work.

So, I’m looking for information / links etc, to any information on how Wikipedia and in particular the Simple English Wikipedia approach making Wikipedia information more accessible.

I believe the strong technical bias in Wikipedia puts off many people and creates unintended biases that are not explicit.

I hope and believe encouraging more accessible wiki info could be a step to reduce this problem, as well as helping get good information out to a wider, less specialised audience.

I hope to hear from some active Wikipedia users their thoughts about this.
