Re:Alastor Moody[change source]

Huji, we do not follow all the rules from en wikipedia. We are simple, not the exactly same en wiki, so those rules don't apply here since it has not been made yet. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 19:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

QD requests[change source]

Hi Huji. When marking a page for quick deletion, could you just add the tag to the page rather than delete the content and replace it with the QD tag? This makes it much simpler to see what the content of the article is and whether or not it's truly worthy of quick deletion. Thank you! · Tygartl1·talk· 21:44, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure I can! - Huji reply 03:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Learning Persian[change source]

Good day, Huji. After perusing divers English translations by eminent Persian scholars viz. Rumi and al-Ghazzali, I developed a most astouding interest in the art of the Persian language and am thusly curious as to whether or not you may be able to assist me in the language. As recompense for your kindness, I will gaurantee an amelioration in your English and, all the enlightenment thereof.

Re:What do you think it was?[change source]

To be honest, I don't understand any Japanese. But when I saw your user page history, it showed that a IP user added in that there. So I thought it was probably vandalism since you don't know Japanese. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 17:46, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Ummm... all of the messages you sent to me[change source]

Okay, I fixed the iw for the Puerto Cabezas (thanks for pointing that out) and the Hurricane Beta article is currently going under construction. Please wait until I'm finished writing that article. Then you can polish it up. (Sheesh... why am I sounding so harsh nowdays???) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 20:39, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HujiBot[change source]

Dude, how do create your own bot? I'm like really curious now 'cuz other users also rn their own bots too. Just how do you make one? --§ Snake311 (T + C) 21:29, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go to meta:Pywikipedia to read what you need to run a bot. I don't run it on my own PC. I have a Wikimedia toolserver account (meta:Toolserver) and run my bot from there. - Huji reply 21:31, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check it out. I've created a Wikipedia:Very good articles for our current very good articles. Although I've copied part of it off from en wiki, I was wondering if we should use it. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 00:26, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I try to stay bold and change that page a little. - Huji reply 08:29, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delete summary[change source]

Yes, I guess I should have entered one, I forgot. Besides, we do not censor for young readers, so its no worse than the original edit. I have rperlaced that article by a copy paste form en, which I will clean up. Thanks for alerting, though. --Eptalon 10:19, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colour change[change source]

Why did you revert my edits to MP? I was discussing a new MP format, and I thought solid colours would be better. It looked nicer. Edit summaries are for explaining why, not just what, you did. Thank you. j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 17:33, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ionas, I will revert back to the revision before both of us. Then we will discuss whether to apply your change or not. I think it would be a good idea to reach consensus on a test page, before editing the live Main Page. OK? - Huji reply 17:35, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here you go: Main Page/Test 1. I will add my comments to the talk page. - Huji reply 17:38, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you have new ST messages. j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 17:42, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will reply there, after we are finished with this one. Follow me on the page I linked above please. - Huji reply 17:45, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Huji, how does one make 15pt courier #ffffff font over a #000000 background with #808080 borders? Like on my userpage, only smaller fonts? I want the main page to look that way. j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 18:00, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It depends, but generally speaking, you should do it by assinging the correct STYLE to the placeholder (like the DIV or the table cell) e.g. like this:
style="font-size:15pt; color:#FFF; background-color:#000; border: 1px solid #808080;"
However, I suggest you to avoid this. White text on black background is highly prohibited by web design professionals. It is harder to read, although it may look different. It distracts the visitor from the text to the design, so it is not good for pages where the person is going to read the text. Also, using "pt" for font-size should be avoided, since different browsers doesn't show it the same way. Using "em" should work the best. - Huji reply 18:05, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 18:19, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is my userpage fine now? j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 19:07, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is much better. It is your userpage so I cannot say if it is fine or not (you should decide) but if I were in your shoes, I would still work on it. The layout (relative position of texts and images/boxes) needs more work. Colors and fonts are the next step. - Huji reply 19:09, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Snake311Bot[change source]

Well when I went to the links you gave me and downloaded all those shawty-nappy downloads and confusing instructions, the result for me was my computer going cmpletely pyscho and me passing out on the floor for the reast of the day. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 21:03, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I take that as a "I couldn't install and run the bot properly". If you want, I can wikt:mentor you through the process again, so you can have your bot. - Huji reply 21:08, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to take the offer, but right now, I'm trying to focus on creating more storm artcles for the 2005 atlantic hurricane season as well as learning more about simplewiki's policies and dealing with very good article business. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 00:02, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually never mind. You can "mentor" me tommorow. Well right now its 3:30 in the morning where I live and I guess I drank to much caffeine. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 10:29, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Feeling bold[change source]

Hello Huji. You know there is nothing like feeling bold. If no people feel bold, we will never get to the 10 very good articles we agreed on to start the section on the main page. My intention with formalising the process was that it would be simple to follow, so that even if they are no automatic propositionbs yet (I am still working on that robot), people would come up and propose articles. So, thank you for feeling bold :) --Eptalon 16:50, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

^^^ ??? LIAM !

You're welcome <- still feeling bold!! - Huji reply 17:51, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page Test 2[change source]

Could you do that ? I would like to create my own layout for the Main Page, as you offered. LIAM !

Is Main Page/Test 2 what you want? If yes, then it is all yours. Just try not to get lost in the bunch of code! If you need special parts of the code to be shown to you (like that of the background of an object) let me know. - Huji reply 17:30, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great. Thanks so much. I appreciate it. LIAM !
Could you please highlight the area where the sister projects are white? I can't find where to change them. LIAM !
I guessed you would have a problem with them. That white background is set elsewhere. I'll try to fix it there (by chaning the background to transparent, or at least adding a parameter to make us able to change the background on the home page as well.) I'll let you know when I'm done. - Huji reply 13:46, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I figured it was because of using ImageMaps, and they are not necessary there. I will try to change the page code to get rid of them, rather than pusing sysops to change the site CSS to make the image maps have a transparent background. Still working... - Huji reply 14:55, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Germany categories.[change source]

Any problem with using both "Germany" and "States in Germany".  ?

At the moment neither has all 16 länder as subcategories - strangely Saxony is both an article and subcategory of "States in Germany" whereas hamburg is simply an article. I don't think "States in Germany" needs subcategories, it is naturally limited because it describes itself as a list. To keep each state as a subcategory of cat:Germany maintains the German hierarchy and allows browsing too.

Each Land seems to have its own wikitable/infobox. I think a standard format would be useful. I can design something in my sandbox but is there a forum to present the idea to before making changes to the articles?  Barliner  talk ] 15:14, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:monobook.js[change source]

I don't see much difference...except now it's a lot faster than it was before. I think I'm going to keep it. Before it was causing my browser to have quite a few problems. Cheers, --Isis§(talk) 16:44, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to butt in to this conversation. I also have a customized whackamole monobook. I'm trying to further customize it but don't know how to do it. Here's what I would like to have: a permanent link in the toolbox (similar to the google link) that links to some special pages, particularly Wanted categories and Pages without interwiki. Do you think you could help me with that? Also, it's not terribly important since it isn't hurting anything and doesn't take up too much space, but I don't really need the google link and wouldn't mind having it removed. Thanks! · Tygartl1·talk· 14:04, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure I can! Just give me a few minutes. I can't do it on yours, because I don't have sysop permission. So I will do it on another page (maybe my own's monobook.js, because I don't want the google link as well, but want the Wantedpages there, for example.) - Huji reply 14:07, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!! :-D · Tygartl1·talk· 17:05, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VG article[change source]

Hello, just like to say thanks for the support you gave me on those black boarders. But I also have an ulterior motive for writing this.
I was wondering if you could have a glance, only if you want to, at the page Jimi Hendrix that I created. It has a "Proposed Very Good Article" stamp already and I'm trying to round up votes to get it that glowing "VERY GOOD" stamp.
If you think it deserves it, please vote! It would be great to see it up there on the front page.
Thanks

For the first, you're welcome. :) For the second, I think I'm going to change the article a little first. - Huji reply 12:12, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Vandalism[change source]

You're welcome :-) Unfortunately, there seems to be a proliferation of vandal accounts impersonating actual admin accounts on the Japanese Wikipedia recently, no doubt done by the same person or group of people. I doubt they're just targeting you ;) Cheers, Tangotango (talk) 03:44, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Billz/Archiving[change source]

I don't want Billz to do my archiving. Anyone else would have been fine. I wouldn't even have cared if it was like Archer7. I know Billz has something against me. And it isn't a personal attack. I just know it. LIAM !

And the black borders are fine. I don't understand. We can have those obnoxious, childish colours like green etc. but if I put a border that is 3px. instead of 1px, I am in trouble. LIAM !

I have worked so hard on that test and you haven't even higlighted the section I was having trouble with, yet. LIAM !

Liam, there are three things I want to tell you:
  1. Again, you are calling something "childish". I'm not getting into how new it is to me to hear "green" being a "childish" color now; I'm focusing on the word "childish" itself. It doesn't lie within the standards of etiquete to speak like that about what others like.
  2. I will ask Billz if he would mind if me (or an administrator other than Billz) would take the responsibility of archiving your talk page. This way, we will ensure nothing goes personall. However, I should ask Billz first.
  3. When signing your post, make sure you use four tildes (like this: ~~~~) because, it will automatically add the date and time. Please do this.
Hope I've helped. - Huji reply 16:30, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am a child. Green is not a "childish" colour. Thanks, but the black looks strange and unencyclopædic. j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 18:04, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm sorry, but I simply feel that Liam is aggravating the situation by arguing out his case. As I said in my latest message to him, I have absolutely nothing against Liam. I have treated him like I would treat any other contributor and I hope you can see by my actions that I am trying my best to be totally fair with him. I am a little unsure why he decided to contact you regarding me, but he's worsening the situation.
Therefore, there is no reason why I should not archive Liam's talk page, as and when it needs doing. Thank you for trying to solve this matter, but as far as I'm aware, it is now closed. Billz (Talk) 18:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking the point I made. - Huji reply 18:21, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated you for adminship. If there are any questions or comments, please respond on my talk page. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. j. rand|talk| ε contribs|email 18:02, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your trust and attention. I'm going to accept the nomination. - Huji reply 18:23, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
At the time, I felt that you jumped in at the deep end without looking into the matter fully enough, such as suggesting that somebody else archives Liam's talk page without even checking whether I really did have something against him. Billz (Talk) 12:37, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, dear Huji. Indeed, it was done by hand. A bot would be very useful for this, and I will take it into consideration. Thank you for your concern in this matter. :) --Isis§(talk) 20:50, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How about now? It looks better in my opinion. I was talking about the colours, but thank you for the hint! ionas talk contribs 22:24, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh colors! Sorry. Well I think, you should remove that red text from the top now. The rest is good. Colors are chosen well. The top image (Chinese peace message, or something) should also be moved downwards. That's my opinion. - Huji reply 16:04, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:Notice[change source]

Hello, Huji! It doesn't really stand out as much as I would like, but it doesn't really matter that much. There are...three more days this week? I will make the font size bigger, though. Thanks for pointing this out. :) Cheers, --Isis§(talk) 21:30, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your message on my talk page, very efficient! I'm doing the same but without a bot. Unfortunatly, there is a party this afternoon (???) so I won't add any more interwikis today. But I'll start again tomorrow if there are any that have escaped you and your ruthless bot :)

Update[change source]

You'll be pleased to know (I hope) that I've finished all of I and all of O, there are a few pages in I and O that I'm not sure how to handle (eg Disambig pages or pages without any interwikis on En Wiki) but most are all done.

Just curious, can't you refresh or run the script again to find out which pages still don't have any? I'm no technical nut though, so I may just be shooting into the air here. Thanks again for the list! And also for letting me use it!

Okay, I think its time for me to reveal a secret. You know in the HP7 book, I heard in a gossip that Mad-Eye would die so to avoid myself look bad, I renamed myself a few days before Deathly Hollows came out. So now, I'm Snake311 (although in other wikis, I'm still Alastor Moody). Also where I got the name "Snake311" was from a friend which I stole (he dosen't know about it!). --§ Snake311 (T + C) 21:16, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hell but Made-Eye was killed by "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" by the Avada Kedavra curse; so any vandal or IP user whose already finished the book could probably insult for that. Anyhow, I'm actually in favor for the Gryffindors thanks to Harry Potter (well duh!), Albus Dumbledore, Sirius Black, and sometimes Peter Pettigrew (I pity that rat who was a loner). --§ Snake311 (T + C) 06:02, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hujibot[change source]

You're probably going to think this is out of nowhere, but I keep forgetting to ask you. You mentioning a bot in a recent conversation reminded me I still haven't asked. Anyways, I'm wondering why Hujibot's changes show up in the new changes. I know very little about bots, but my understanding is that their changes don't show up in new changes so that they don't "flood" it. I just think it's strange when I see your bot's recent changes on that page. Is that normal? Or am I asking a really silly question? · Tygartl1·talk· 21:23, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, unless you select the option "do not show bot edits", then yes, they will show. ionas talk contribs 05:50, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You shouldn't see any of HujiBot's edits on 13 Aug 2007, or if you see them, then you should see the edits made by other bots as well.

Bot edits are generally hidden from recent changes (having that the bot has a flag). You can also go to Special:Preferences then to Watchlist tab, and choose if you want them to be hidden on your watchlist.

Best, - Huji reply 09:53, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I didn't see any on Aug 13 but I have seen them in the past. And yours is the only bot whose edits I ever see on the recent changes. · Tygartl1·talk· 14:11, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Huji[change source]

You are very polite, dear Huji, and your gracious suggestion is most welcome; and rest assured, I will follow your advice in the future ;) You know, just between you and me, some of my friends call me "Miss verbosity"... why would that be, I wonder? ;) As to your second question, well - I say at my name at my userpage, so I thought that would clear any doubts... but maybe I have to be more explicit than that! I'm female, and as a matter of fact, I have a few pictures of myself at my EnWP page, if you're curious.
While I'm here, this is a great chance to tell you, I think you're a fantastic editor, and you have great future in our project. I hope your recent RfA didn't make you sad, because nobody thought you were not a great users, only that a little more time was needed, that's all; and in due time, you will make it for sure.
