Date Linking[change source]

Read all the comments and it makes sense to me - I have been linking dates because that seemed to be the style, I'll cut back on a few. My main goal is not dates however, but just trying to get some Australian content in simple format. I'll look forward to future cooperation - bushrangers, explorers, and a few important early people are what I'm trying to get done at the moment. Oklahoma PVGA[change source]

Hi, you recently changed your vote to oppose and I read why. I would like to everything possible to the article so you might change your mind. English is my first language so it is kind of hard to tell what’s hard to understand and which words are too big. Is there anything in particular that I could change to help it? Thanks, --CPacker (talk) 04:59, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks for the help. I will start tomorrow and see what I can do and try to simplify what I can. Thanks for the help on the article its very appreciated. Thanks again, --CPacker (talk) 05:28, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great job on simplifing the page, also I want to say that I like the Oklahoma! bit in there now. When I removed it there was no mention of it becoming the state song. When I read secion as a whole it fit good. Just wanted to let you know im glad you added back. --CPacker (talk) 06:36, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Readability[change source]

Hi Matilda, I read your comment on the Oklahoma page about the Flesch tools, I didn't know they were there! So I went back to Ben Hall to have a play around and see what could be done. I also found a website listed in the English Wikipedia where you can paste in text and get a quick score and report back as well.[1]. It is a good place to start, so thanks for putting me on to them. Peterdownunder (talk) 05:59, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RyanCross' RfA thanks[change source]

Hello. I thank you for your support in my request for adminship. It was closed as successful. I am honored and thankful for the trust you have in me and for the new position you have helped place me in as an administrator. I will do my very best as an administrator for Simple English Wikipedia, and I promise I'll do all I can to the best of my abilities. If you need any help at all or if you need my assistance, feel free to drop a message on my talk page. I'll see if I can be of help. Again, thank you. I appreciate it very much.
Yours truly, RyanCross (talk) 08:12, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for those tools you've listed on WP:ST. Never ever knew they existed and am so happy to have them pointed out. I loved doing the analysis of Golda Meir, I {{Enwp based}} it but after I edited it it came out as perfect split between long words and long sentences! :-) Cheers! fr33kman t - c 02:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gwib, on my talk page informed me of more articles similar to the river situation found here. Now, every now and then I notice that one of the glaciers etc show up on google books/scholar. The rest are a shame. Do you think we should convert some of these into lists also? Synergy 21:50, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pakistani Rivers[change source]

Hello, just wondered whether it would not be better to create REDIRECTs, rather than delete the article. This would keep the edit hisotry. It owuld mean though that ideally, every river in the river list had its subsection. Whatcha think? --Eptalon (talk) 23:46, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Matilda. I'm outa here for a few months shortly but I just wanted to say that your offer to mentor Ric epitomises the real spirit of Wikipedia. I know people have a certain number of last chances (!) but your generosity is outstanding. I hope the community will agree to your altruistic approach. All the best. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:16, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your good travel wishes. Good luck with your endeavours. Feel free to give me a shout should you think I could be of use in any way. Take care. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:24, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Simple:Quote correction[change source]

Just a minor note about the comment on your simple:quote talk page about SH working on a Mac (why he couldn't lock the system) - another lie. Definitely not from a Mac and not even likely being from a library. -- Creol(talk) 01:47, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Matilda[change source]

Hello, Matilda. I have noticed that you archived the Simple Talk thread on Ric's ban with an edit summary that indicated that you have retracted the offer to mentor Ric due to him communicating with certain Wikipedians in a rude and discourteous manner. Can you please copy the e-mails (without the addresses or other personal information of course, but with the attacks within)? I am curious as to what he wrote that would cause offence to the editors of Wikipedia, as he seemed apologetic (even though he did not express knowledge of how to spell the word "apologize"). He also made some contributions under his IP address that would be valid if it were not him. — Jonas (talk · proposal) 04:32, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Matilda, I did not want you to forward it to me, because I think that it would be inappropriate that I be able to see it (though I didn't receive it) but not the rest of the community. Do you know who did get the e-mail? — Jonas (talk · proposal) 04:51, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, at the time I 1) was too lazy to check and 2) somehow interpreted it as meaning that it was not publicly known what the e-mail was. That is definitely a discourteous message, but supports for the punishment of a person may provoke such reactions (though it's certainly not the most friendly response I could think of) in a person who is not fully stable. I am not fully emotionally "stable" either, and I have engaged in rude behavior, so it is not beyond consideration that this user cannot be reformed as I was. So I understand both of you, and I hope that ShockingHawk would think about calming down some. I certainly don't appreciate the way he's going about this. — Jonas (talk · proposal) 05:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect[change source]

Hi, your edit here says the Lakes of Titan are not verified to be the only planet outside of Earth to have lakes and rivers. I think this was because I didnt simplify it properly and you will find that it is not only verified by NASA and ESA but it is provided by them. Please read again you should find it much simpler. Also you noticed a question mark. All those entries have question marks, they are not requests for verification. Those articles are the ones already verified. Anyway I am going away from the computer now, you will have to find the page for not verified entries yourself. G Luck~ R.T.G 00:40, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, talk to who ever put Titan on that page, and in bold, not me. And, it was not me who verified and added it to that page. What you are talking about "Do not verify and add your own nominations. You have been told that by more than one editor". Well, thats completely fanciful, as was your summary when you removed the entry from the update page (unverifed and stuff you said), so, I would suggest that you discuss before you delete things and you wont encounter rv issues. ~ R.T.G 13:39, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, before you sent me the message last night I made a complete re-write of lakes of titan (this would be the "hook"). ~ R.T.G 13:48, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

in re mentorship[change source]

I would have to think about that... Mostly, I just want to develop a more friendly attitude on-wiki, but also to edit more articles, with a better quality of writing. — Jonas (talk · proposal) 01:15, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to say thank you for all the help you've been doing for WP:DYK and for helping me run it. :) – RyanCross (talk) 06:31, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Also, would you like me to give you rollback permissions to your account? I trust you will use it well, and I don't see any instance where you will misuse rollback. – RyanCross (talk) 06:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I use popups for undoing and reverting so I don't think I need rollback - thanks for the offer anyway--Matilda (talk) 06:17, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Matilda: Just a tip with DYK, there is no need to re-review nominations that are a no unless the author has criticised or changed or whatever. Secondly, as per this diff, we do not allow stub articles on DYK, per Template:Did you know. This is why it requires expansion. Thanks, BG7even 10:47, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's not that I've checked, checked, and checked again and it meets those requirements. It's there in the infobox (which the rules don't say it can't be in the infobox, plus what more would you say if it was in the article itself it would be redundant) and it sourced per WP:RS from en.I just don't see the problem when it meets all requirement minus the picture.--   ChristianMan16  17:53, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just though you should know BG7 approved it and it is now on the next update page. I'm not bragging, I'm just letting you know.--   ChristianMan16  18:31, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Received[change source]

No problem. Synergy 00:56, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's right. Thanks for this. – RyanCross (talk) 04:28, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You keep referring to a reference that has since been removed, please visit the article again and you will see another reference in it's place (http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/healthyliving/gspot.htm). Feel free to quote that. --Gwib -(talk)- 19:58, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Going to bed (late local time), don't wait for a reply. I will read your message tomorrow and give a response so you don't end up refreshing my talk page repeatedly for 6 hours. --Gwib -(talk)- 21:54, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Final decision. Would you be in agreement of inserting a phrase into the article:
Some people, including doctors, don't believe that the G-spot exists,[citations] however, there is also evidence to suggest that the G-spot is simply a sensitive area[another citation]
Something to satisfy the both of us, including both views and sources. After such a sentence has been added, I'd like to talk to you about sexuality hooks on DYK. --Gwib -(talk)- 17:43, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you remove the {{expand}} template please? It's now both ugly and unsuitable. --Gwib -(talk)- 06:24, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You warning[change source]

Your warning here doesn't assume good faith for a first time offender.--   ChristianMan16  04:00, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you should have used test2....as after that the user may not have vandalized anymore. You never know....hence the line in [{WP:AGF]] "...always assume good faith." And yes I know the situation I've been monitoring as well.--   ChristianMan16  04:08, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't know that what she was adding was vandalism...I only saw two of the edits.--   ChristianMan16  04:19, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We really should standardize the screen resolution we go by for sigs cause one persons 2 or 3 lines like mine could be anothers 4 or 5 lines.--   ChristianMan16  05:15, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I made an attempt to shorten my sig is this better?--  CM16  22:19, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest the Contributions link is there for me really....but others can benefit from it.....and Bluegoblin's is the same way which is where I got the idea from. I'm trying to shorten it and still be happy with it.--  CM16  23:10, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Small note[change source]

Just wanted to make you aware, to use the template {{inuse}} when you make bigger changes to articles. Reduces edit conflicts. --Eptalon (talk) 00:07, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I get scared that I won't be able to follow though and it will stay there for too long. It is kind of deprecated on enwp which is another reason why I haven't used in past. Sorry if you did get an edit conflict this morning (my time) though. I am still not happy with the article's balance on covering the issues or with its readability.--Matilda (talk) 00:17, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All it says is: I am currently editing this article, so please don't - If you see a flag left, and no change for like an hour, then I think it's probably safe to remove. Time period obviously deepnds on article size. --Eptalon (talk) 16:40, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
