Summary

Description Up express approaching Bletchley headed by 1 Co-Co 1 6P/6F no.10203. A poor photo with nothing to indicate the setting, but included because it was a rare sighting of this machine (brand new in 1954). Only 3 of these were built, at Ashford Works, this being the third and most powerful. For the technical people - English Electric Co. 16-cyl. 2000 b.h.p. Weight 132 tons. Driving wheels 3'7", maximum tractive effort 50,000 lb. Transmission:electric. 6 nose-suspended, axle-hung d.c.motors of 260 h.p. (1 hr.rating).
