DescriptionAstronomical Observatory of Rome, Monte Mario.jpg
English: The astronomical observatory of Rome on Monte Mario. The observatory, which was inaugurated in 1938, was built in the old Villa Mellini. Three domes were constructed on top of the house, which was originally built in the 15th century for Cardinal Mario Mellini. To the left of the observatory building, the solar tower from 1951 can be seen.
Although the building is no longer used as an active observatory, it is now home to the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica.
