English: The door to a coupé compartment in Class 421 electric multiple unit 1497. These compartments enabled a few extra seats to be fitted into a coach where there was not room for a full compartment. Note how the passenger sits right next to the door, a feature of non-corridor trains that was also commonly seen on British Railways suburban trains built in the 1950s and 1960s. |
