Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde von Otto Hupp entworfen und enstammt einem Siegel aus dem 15. Jahrhundert. Es verbindet das schwarze Kreuz von Kurköln mit dem Löwen der Herren von Nürburg. Seit 1831 wird das Siegelbild auch als Wappen verwendet.
English: The arms are derived from a seal of the 15th century and show the cross of Cologne and the lion of the Lords of Nürburg. The arms were first granted in 1831.
