Object history
Deutsch: Das von Ulf-Dietrich Korn entworfene und am 5. Juli 1961 vom Regierungspräsidenten in Aurich verliehene Wappen erinnert an die landwirtschaftliche Prägung der Gemeinde. Die Sporenrädlein finden sich auch in den Wappen von Berumerfehn und Norden. Allgemein wird angenommen, dass sie ihren Ursprung im Wappenschild der auf Burg Lintel bei Norden ansässigen ostfriesischen Häuptlingsfamilie Idzinga haben. Die Idzingas verfügten über zahlreiche Besitzungen im Norderland und galten als die Häuptlinge dieses Gebietes, zu dem teilweise auch Berumbur gehörte.
