Object history
Deutsch: Die Orte Buchheim, Holzhausen, Hugstetten und Neuershausen haben sich am 1. Dezember 1973 zur Gemeinde March zusammengeschlossen. Der neue Gemeindename ist vom Landschaftsnamen March übernommen, der wieder auf die alte Buchheimer Mark zurückgeht. Zu ihr gehörten neben den heutigen Ortsteilen noch die Dörfer Hochdorf und Benzhausen. Die Klöster Lorsch und St. Gallen waren früh in allen vier Ortsteilen begütert und an der Erschließung des Gebietes beteiligt. Das Gemeindewappen, das vom Generallandesarchiv vorgeschlagen wurde, nimmt mit dem Lorscher Kreuz und dem Bären als Wappensymbol des Klosters St. Gallen darauf Bezug. Es wurde mit der Flagge vom Innenministerium am 21. April 1975 verliehen.
