Object history
Deutsch: Das Gemeindewappen kombiniert zwei für die Geschichte der früheren Gemeinde Roßbach wichtige Herrschaftsträger. Der mit drei goldenen Kugeln belegte Schrägbalken erinnert an die Herren von Pienzenau, die von 1456 bis 1627 als Inhaber der Hofmark Roßbach nachweisbar sind. Die rote gestürzte und eingeschweifte Spitze auf rotem Dreiberg ist das Wappensymbol der Zisterzienserabtei Aldersbach, die im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert die Hofmark Schmiedorf besaß. Damit ist auch die bis 1971 selbstständige Gemeinde Schmiedorf im Gemeindewappen vertreten.
