Object history
Deutsch: Das Beil, das Attribut des heiligen Wolfgangs, stellt eine Verbindung zum Kirchenpatrozinium her, das dem Ort und der Gemeinde den Namen gab. Das Wassermotiv, die Wellenteilung des Schildes, erinnert an die lokale Überlieferung, dass der Heilige im 10. Jahrhundert hier eine Quelle entdeckt haben soll. Darüber wurde der Altar der Wolfgangskapelle errichtet, die sich zu einer viel besuchten Wallfahrt entwickelte. Der silberne Pferderumpf in der oberen Schildhälfte ist die geminderte Form des Wappentiers der Fraunberger zum Haag und zugleich der Grafschaft Haag, mit der das Gemeindegebiet in enger Verbindung stand.
