Object history
Deutsch: Schönwald war seit 1412 im Besitz der Burggrafen von Nürnberg und gehörte bis 1791 zur Markgrafschaft Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Daran erinnert der von Silber und Schwarz gevierte Schildhaupt. Die Fichten stehen redend für den Ortsnamen und stellen zusammen mit dem Dreiberg die Lage der Stadt am Rand des Fichtelgebirges dar. Im Zusammenhang mit der Erhebung zum Markt 1938 erhielt Schönwald ein Wappen. Seit 1954 ist Schönwald Stadt.
