Object history
Deutsch: Der Schluchsee mit dem angrenzenden Gebiet kam zu Ende des 11. Jahrhunderts durch Schenkung an das Kloster St. Blasien. Der Ort Schluchsee wurde der 1699 gebildeten sanktblasianischen Grafschaft Bonndorf angegliedert, mit der er 1806 an Baden fiel. Gemeindesiegel waren erst nach 1830 in Gebrauch. Sie enthielten kein Siegelbild, nur die Gemeindebezeichnung. Das Wappen wurde 1897 auf Vorschlag des Generallandesarchivs von der Gemeinde angenommen. Der Hirschkopf ist eine Anspielung auf das Wappen des Klosters St. Blasien. Die Initiale S wurde als unterscheidendes Beizeichen aufgenommen. Als Kennzeichen der historischen Orts- und Landesherrschaft gewählt, ist das Wappenbild auch allgemein ein passendes Symbol für den im Schwarzwald gelegenen heilklimatischen Kurort. Erst in jüngerer Zeit korrigierte man die Tingierung gemäß der heraldischen Farbregel. Die Flagge wurde am 9. September 1975 vom Innenministerium verliehen.
