Object history
Deutsch: Die dreifache Teilung von Rot und Gold ist dem Wappen der Grafen von Truhendingen entnommen, die vom 11. bis zum 13. Jahrhundert Grund- und vorübergehend auch Patronatsherren in Wechingen waren. Der Schragen weist darauf hin, dass die Oettinger bis 1806 die Landesherren waren. Die Vierung von Silber und Schwarz in der hinteren Schildhälfte entspricht dem alten Wappen der Markgrafen von Ansbach, die nach der Säkularisation des Klosters Heidenheim 1537 Patronatsherren im Ortsteil Oberwechingen waren. Zusammen mit den Grafen von Oettingen führten sie im Ort 1541 die Reformation ein.
