Object history
Deutsch: Wiesthal wird erstmals 1479 urkundlich erwähnt. Durch das heutige Gemeindegebiet verlief die Grenze zwischen dem Kurstaat Mainz und dem Herrschaftsgebiet der Grafen von Rieneck, das nach deren Aussterben 1559 ebenfalls zu Mainz kam. Daran erinnern die neunmalige Teilung von Rot und Gold, die dem Wappen der Grafen von Rieneck entnommen ist, sowie die Farben Silber und Rot aus dem Wappen des Kurstaates Mainz. Die beiden Glaspfeifen weisen darauf hin, dass der Ort eine Glasmachersiedlung war, deren Bewohner als Glasmacher, Holzfäller, Aschenbrenner oder Fuhrleute mehr oder weniger alle mit der Glasmacherei zu tun hatten. Das Andreaskreuz steht für die Kapelle, die bereits vor 1477, vor der Gründung der Pfarrei Wiesthal, bestand, und deren Patrozinium auf die Pfarrkirche überging.
