Object history
Deutsch: Wildpoldsried zählt zu den kemptischen Niedergerichten, die unter Fürstabt Sebastian von Breitenstein (1522 bis 1535) ein Gerichtssiegel bekamen. Das Siegelbild ist auf einem Wappenblatt aus dem Jahr 1561 überliefert, auf dem mehrere solche Zeichen abgebildet sind. Das Siegelbild wurde für das Gemeindewappen übernommen. Die Farben Rot und Blau weisen auf das Fürststift Kempten hin, das 11398 mit der Burg und Herrschaft Wolkenberg auch einen großen Teil von Wildpoldsried erwarb. Die Herkunft der Pfeile ist nicht eindeutig zu klären. Vermutlich stammen sie aus dem Wappen der Herren von Ettelried, die im späten Mittelalter im Gemeindegebiet begütert waren.
