Summary

Description
English: An RAF Chinook Helicopter arriving at Knook Camp, Salisbury Plain, where French Paratroopers from 2e Régiment Etranger de Parachutistes wait to carry out training on the aircraft.

French paratroopers have familiarised themselves with operating from British Chinook helicopters during joint training on Salisbury Plain.

To prepare for large scale air assault missions on Exercise Wessex Storm, a Chinook flew in for a show and tell session with 2e Régiment Etranger de Parachutistes at Knook Camp today (Thu 12 Nov). Troops were briefed on procedures for boarding and dismounting the aircraft, before taking to the air to put in practice what they had learnt.

The French unit is training alongside the 2 PARA Battlegroup so that British and French airborne forces are ready to deploy together on short notice missions, a partnership that has stood ready since 2013 as part of closer military co-operation between Britain and France.
