Jego formalnego otwarcia dokonał Tony Blair 31 grudnia 1999 roku, ale ze względu na problemy techniczne młyn został udostępniony zwiedzającym dopiero 9 marca 2000 roku.
Português: London Eye, inaugurada em 9 de março de 2000, é uma roda-gigante de observação às margens do rio Tâmisa em Londres, Inglaterra.
