Object history Die gekreuzten Abtstäbe im roten Feld geben das ursprüngliche, seit 1429 bezeugte Stiftswappen des Benediktinerklosters Benediktbeuern wieder, das mit der Geschichte der Gemeinde seit den Anfängen im 8. Jahrhundert eng verbunden ist. Die aufgelegte Feder verweist auf die große Blütezeit der klösterlichen Buchmalerei- und Schreibschule im 12. und 13. Jahrhundert. Die Feder wurde auch hinzugefügt, um das Gemeindewappen vom zum Teil ebenfalls auf das Klosterwappen zurückgreifenden Wappen des Altlandkreises Bad Tölz zu unterscheiden.
