Object history
Deutsch: Die haufenartig aufgeschichteten behauenen Steine verweisen auf die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung des Eginger Granits, aus dem früher in handwerklicher, seit den 1920er-Jahren verstärkt in industrieller Fertigung Pflastersteine hergestellt wurden. Diesem Wirtschaftszweig verdankte die Gemeinde ihr Aufblühen. Die zwei Tannen symbolisieren die Lage der Gemeinde im Bayerischen Wald. Anlässlich der Erhebung zum Markt im Jahr 1953 nahm Eging das Wappen an. Eging war von 1818 an nur der Gemeindename; 1956 verlieh das Innenministerium den Gemeindeteilen Obereging, Untereging, Albersdorf und Preinting den einheitlichen Namen Eging, weil sie seit der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts allmählich zusammengewachsen waren. Seit 1978 nennt sich die Gemeinde am Rohrbach-Stausee Eging am See und ist Kurbad.
