Gala is a variety of eating and cooking apple. This variety is crisp, juicy and sweet. The skin color of the fruit is non-uniform. It usually has a red skin that can have some additional yellow color. The gala apple was created in New Zealand by crossing Kidd’s orange red and golden delicious apples.[2]

In the United States, it was projected in 2019 to be the most highly produced apple variety.
