Lee was a member of the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty. He was a descendant of Prince Hyoryeongsand uncle of Queen Insun, wife of Myeongjong of Joseon. In 1546 he passed to Saengwon and Chinsa exam and passed to Imperial examinationin 1552.
