The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a 2023 American dystopian action movie directed by Francis Lawrence. It is based on the 2020 novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. It is a prequel to The Hunger Games (2012), and is the fifth movie in The Hunger Games movie series.

The movie stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Viola Davis.

It is set 64 years before the events of the first movie. It is about the events that lead a young Coriolanus Snow on the path to becoming the dictator of Panem.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes premiered in Berlin on November 5, 2023,[4] and was released theatrically in the United States on November 17, 2023, by Lionsgate Films.

The movie received mixed reviews from critics and made $337 million worldwide in the box office.
