Trechus is a genus of ground beetles. It is found across Europe, the Middle East and northern Asia. The genus contains hundreds of species.[1]
The name comes from the Greek word trécho, meaning "I run".[2]
Species were first organised into this genus in 1806, by Joseph Philippe de Clairville.
