Wikipedia:Simple talk#Restricted_Vocabulary

"Vocabulary is not a problem. We should not use big words without a good reason, but most of our readers can always look up strange words in a dictionary. My wife often surprises me when I use a strange word; she says, "I understand." But she has trouble with difficult grammar. It is better to keep grammar simple than to use fewer words. I do find a places where writers have been using complex grammatics in order to get around the usage of a word that is not in the basic english vocabulary. I think that this is the wrong way. Instead I think that it is okay to use longer sentences but only if they are being marked to be a group of shorter sentences that has been made with glue words like "that", "which", "but", "in order to", "because", etc. The readers of the simple english wikipedia are not stupid but instead they are not experienced and the simple english wikipedia can help with that. And it should!
