Alan William Napier-Clavering (7 January 1903 – 8 August 1988) was an English actor. He is best known for his role as Alfred the butler in the 1960s live-action Batman television series.

Napier was born on 7 January 1903 in King's Norton, Worcestershire, England. His cousin was Prime Minster Neville Chamberlain. Napier studied at Clifton College and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

He was married to Emily Nancy Bevill Pethybridge from 1930 until they divorced in 1944. He was married to Aileen Dickens Hawksley from 1944 until her death in 1961. Aileen was the granddaughter of Charles Dickens. Napier was a close friend of actor Michael Gough.

Napier died on 8 August 1988 in Santa Monica, California from a stroke, aged 85.[1]
